Very nice hostel and amazing and helpful staff in a wonderful location near the town center. Rooms are nice and clean, though we found that one of the towels were stained. (They changed it immediately). I would say that the place would welcome a bit of an update. Breakfast is ok, but just

I stayed at Edenia Hotel and Nature with my two kids and we had an amazing experience. The hotel is beautiful, very well designed, and the decor is stunning. The panoramic views of Lake Argentino were breathtaking, especially during breakfast. The restaurant food was fantastic and every staff member we met was kind and ready to help. I’d definitely stay here again, and I’d recommend it for families looking for a peaceful spot in El Calafate.

Excellent place. Amazing staff, beautiful lovation, easy safe 40 min walk to downtown. 7500 ars taxi. We loved the view and quietness. The food was really good and priced well. The bed was not the most comfortable one, probably need to replace some mattresses soon but it was un uncomfortable, very clean lively place.

The shower was leaking and we were getting up very early and leaving very late , so we did not have a chance to get another room, since no one was at the reception. There was also stinky rubber rug on the floor, which did not absorb any moisture, which kept rotting. The sink is tiny, letting all the water spill. They asked us to leave the key at the front desk, and all key were there on display, while there were a lot of times, that there was no one at the reception. They are also charging an extra fee if you leave "stains" on the towels - pretty odd.

Omg what a dump! On the surface it's good, but once you get to the room 😱 Our first "suite" on the upper floor smelled of poop. Had a hot tub coz we paid extra. Bathroom door stops halfway coz the toilet is right there! No hand towel bar or hook, no hook on the dilapidated door. Bed was ancient. The decor was ghastly from the 1960s. When we tried to fill the hot tub, it kept draining. The jerk receptionist checked and found the stopper wasn't there. No instructions given even when we asked. He went and got a drain plug. Used toilet and flushed it. After that all hell broke loose. Jets on the hot tub got violent. Tried closing the taps but didn't work, until water soaked the carpet and the bed. Jerk receptionist turned it off and said, "whether it's my fault or yours I'm sorry". Are you kidding me? He moved us downstairs to another suite but we didn't use the tub. This is worse in terms of decor, if you can call it that. Furniture is scratched and probably picked up from a yard sale. Curtains don't overlap. No view in room. No exhaust fan in the bathroom, no window in the bathroom. Didn't use the duvet coz it looked so gross. The fridge noise kept us up all night. We could hear the hot tub in the next room all night and it sounded like our own tub was being filled with water. Really loud and kept us up. The only good thing about that place - Luz at reception. She was lovely. She deserves a better hotel to work for.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Kalken. The front desk staff were amazing, especially the man with glasses that works at night, he went above and beyond to help me and was very kind. The room had everything I needed for my short stay and I enjoyed the packed lunch box ready for me in the morning for my el chalten day hike! I would definitely stay here again. El personal de recepción fue increíble, especialmente el hombre con lentes que trabaja de noche, hizo todo lo posible para ayudarme y fue muy amable. ¡El cuarto tenía todo lo que necesitaba para mi corta reservación y disfruté de la caja de almuerzo empacada lista para mí por la mañana para mi caminata de un día en el chalten! Definitivamente me quedaría aquí de nuevo. Gracias de nuevo a todo los trabajadores, lo agradezco :)
