For a hotel rated top in the North East I expected this to be a wonderful stay. First, they didn’t know how to check me in and it took at least 5 attempts to scan my credit card before someone else came over to help. When checking in I asked about the $29 resort credit I was supposed to get through Orbitz and they said it would be automatically added to the room. This never happened, nor did the $20 credit that “the hotel gives everyone” to offset the cost of the city taxes. When I called about being over charged (I even sent screenshots of the booking showing I was to get the resort credit) I was told it would be credited back to my card. I eventually got the $20 refunded that “everyone gets” but they never even acknowledged the orbitz credit despite my confirmation on check in, discussion over the phone and follow up email. Also, Upon arrival in my room the housekeeper just walked right in without knocking or anything. And my fault for not reading the fine print but a “double room” isn’t double queen beds it’s double double beds… my husband barely fit in the bed. Breakfast was good, but way overpriced. $5 for just a plain black coffee is a little much even for Philly. The hotel itself was clean and decorated nicely, but I can not for the life of me understand how this is one of the top rated hotels.

Excellence near Rittenhouse Square
We had a delightful stay here as a family during the winter holidays. The hotel is conveniently located near Rittenhouse Square and all those neighborhood amenities, including the arts and cultural institutions. We visited the Franklin Institute, which is walkable from the hotel. The hotel itself is well-maintained and has excellent service. The rooms are updated and clean, and everything was comfortable. Valet parking was prompt. We would definitely return and recommend.

You will love this hotel
Great hotel, would highly recommend. Rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Location is great, and overnight parking gives you in and out privileges all day. Staff is friendly, extremely helpful, and always smiling. Room service breakfast is delicious, prepared fresh, and well worth the money.

Standards have dropped sharply...
While the valet, check-in, and room were all positive...the service at both the hotel restaurant(s) was terrible. For the dinner/bar - the hotel had a single person on staff to manage a room of around 70 people. After waiting at a table for 20 minutes without anyone even checking in on us, my party simply left. The next morning, we grabbed breakfast at the hotel brunch, normally a great meal. Not only did the server never deliver half the items we asked for, what food was ordered arrived cold and missing items. Rather than preparing fresh food, the server simply cherry picked items from the buffet. He did that after we had waited for over 15 minutes. What we got was lukewarm and missing several items listed on the menu. However, he never checked in on us. Nor did any of the other staff. Given the $60 check for two, it was very underwhelming. When I complained at the front desk, the staff made zero offers to address the issue and on check out 30 minutes later, didn't even bother to ask me about our stay. Sofitel was a great option for years...but with the Kimpton across the street...it's the last time I will visit the hotel.

Service and Room was great
My wife and I had a wonderful stay for her birthday at the Sofitel. This is our third time staying there and each time the service is great. The lounge is great place to have a drink. The breakfast options are very good. And the room is very modern and clean.
