Place was good. No separate ac units in the rooms so not recommend for the middle of the summer
If I would have known that prior I wouldn't have stayed along with the pool being empty and out of service.
Loos like it has not been updated since the 1930s. Great location, historic building, needs a few million in upgrades.

This is an old hotel , the ac is central so you can’t cool your room down , the bed was uncomfortable, the room is very small , it’s quaint with history, so it’s kinda cool :)
Amazing hotel! Always book to this hotel for every convention!

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The property was vintage in appearance and furnishings. As the hotel was opened in 1928, this was to be expected. The staff was friendly and the room was neat. What I did not like was how hot the hotel and room were due to limited air conditioning. Per the front desk, the rooms share a centralized unit and thus there is not ability to cool the room down. The only thing hotter than the room was the hallways. As you can imagine, in 110 degree weather, this was very uncomfortable.

Going from decent to disaster
If you've stayed at the San Carlos before you know what your getting. Decent price and great location but accommodations sub par. Which in past has been acceptable. However in this stay the "central air" (they do not have in room a/c) was barely putting out any air, much less cold air. And apparently they've started removing the mini-fridges. Whaaaaat? Why are they downgrading??? This will be my last stay there. For $25 more you can stay at an actual hotel nearby.
Property is convenient to the Footprint Arena. Air conditioning cannot be adjusted, so you get what you get. No room refrigerator, so not able to keep liquids cold. Guest services was very helpful, and gave us an extra fan. Thank you.
It’s Phoenix in late June and the air conditioning was awful! The room never cooled off. It was impossible to sleep. There is no room thermostat. Granted it is an older hotel but adequate air conditioning in Phoenix in the summer is a necessity
The walkable sports venues, food and beverages, culture. Noon check out...great!!! The parking was a bit in convenient but I understand the location, etc. Validation of paking ticke would have been a bonus. We will definitely return!

The San Carlos hotel has this classy vintage vibe to it and the location is close to everything that in Downtown. Only negative was the parking situation but no big deal. Will stay again.
