In general was nice, however some of the pillows on my room smell still to someone else, which was a little bit disgusting. I ask for a pillow replacement, but it never happened.

This is an historic property from the early 20th century so don't expect a Hyatt. But, it was the first hotel in the SW with an elevator, and the first hotel in PHX with air conditioning. Mae West and Clark Gable and who knows else have stayed there. It even has a ghost on the 7th floor. A very interesting place to stay, and a short walk from the convention center and arena.

Wifi Issues
Kinda upset about the wifi. The wifi didn't really work in my room, and I had to end up using a hotspot.
Quaint older building. Not exactly dirty, not spotless but with lots of character. No thermostat for AC but the room was comfortable. Shower spikes to scalding every 3 - 5 minutes., maybe when someone flushes a toilet in the motel. Overall a cool place to stay.
WIFI is worthless. Can not even download your email. Staff said the motel was full causing the problem. Problem is antiquated set up. Each floor has a different SSID. If you need to do any business online, this is not going to work for you.
What it is: clean, friendly and helpful staff, old (including the bathroom fixtures, furniture, etc), stocked with the basics
What is isn't: luxury hotel, haunted (I didn't even know the story until my last night there)
The hotel is conveniently located. However, the internet is unreliable. While there is Wi-Fi on each floor, the signal is very weak and often disconnects. I asked the reception about this, and they explained that it’s due to the high occupancy of the hotel.
Quaint old-fashioned (small room - if you're large you might not fit in the bathroom).
Uncomfortable bed (lumpy). And some construction or other racket at 4:00am.
Had a wonderful stay at Hotel San Carlos! Excellent choice if you're attending an event at the Footprint Center. Quiet in the hotel room, despite being in the middle of downtown Phoenix. Beautiful hotel!
