You get what you pay for

I have stayed at this hotel in the past but it had been years since I had done so. Should have been a red flag when at 3 in the afternoon the check-in lobby was closed and they required people to use the night window to check in. In hind sight I believe it may have been for their security. The room appeared clean and orderly if not old and in desperate need of a makeover, I turned on the AC unit (that was covered in ducktape to hold it together) and left for the afternoon. The room should have been cold when I returned at 7:30 but instead it was stuffy and hot the AC was still running but putting out very little cold air. When I went to take a shower I found that the bathroom door would not close and the hinges were all loose, it appeared it had been fixed before with the kind of screws being used. The shower was at full pressure and you you could only control the temperature. When I turned to the bed I have to say it was one of the most beat down old mattresses I have ever been on, I could feel the individual springs in the mattress. That night at 10:30 there was screaming yelling and cursing in the parking lot with some kind of altercation that was loud enough to wake me from the 2nd floor. The room did not cool enough to be comfortable until 2-3am. In short it is worth spending a bit more to be in both a better part of town and be in a comfortable room.

The only problem was the tv was not working and I couldn’t connect my phone to it without the actual remote for the tv not just the cable remote. But I stayed in the exact same room before, so all I would have needed to do is ask for it and I know the staff would have given me the remote with no problems, it was just inconvenient. The staff is wonderful, personable and friendly. No problems there.
