This hotel was the best. I wanted a nature centered, relaxing, and fun stay and that’s exactly what we got. I’ve read mixed reviews about the food, but we loved it! This all inclusive had everything we wanted and needed. We booked a concierge room and our concierge, Israel, took care of us during our stay. There was an abundance of animals everywhere, which I absolutely loved. I will be back with the rest of my family.

Extremely Disappointed – Food Poisoning Ruined Our Trip We traveled to Occidental at Xcaret Destination for a wedding held at Xcaret Park, expecting a beautiful and memorable experience. Unfortunately, our stay was completely overshadowed by a severe case of food poisoning that left my husband seriously ill. In the early morning hours after dining at the resort’s buffet, he began experiencing extreme symptoms: high fever, severe vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. We had not eaten anywhere else outside the resort during our stay, so it was clear the illness was caused by something served at the buffet. Fortunately, we ate different foods and therefore I did not get sick. I immediately reported the issue to the front desk and discovered we were not the only ones — several other guests were filing similar complaints at the same time. Disappointingly, the resort took no meaningful action. No follow-up, no concern for guest safety, and certainly no accountability. The illness forced us to extend our stay unexpectedly, incurring the cost of extra nights and new return flights. Instead of enjoying the wedding festivities and our vacation, we were stuck in our room dealing with a completely preventable situation. What should have been a joyful and celebratory trip turned into a nightmare. I cannot recommend this resort and strongly urge management to take guest health and food safety far more seriously.

Horrible customer service. Supposed to be “All Inclusive” yet there was not much included in their buffet. Staff was not happy with our large group size and there were never tables or enough staff to seat us together. We would tried to voice our concerns with staff but we were quickly dismiss with no solution. It is so sad to see and experience such a bad experience all around.

I love traveling to this resort. The Staff is like family to us and we love them all. They always go above and beyond. If i could critique anything about this resort is the food. I am lucky on this trip, we stayed in the Royal Level with excellent food choices. Outside of the royal level the food seems to be consistent but also the same flavors and quality throughout. The food is made for the masses and quality suffers due to this.

The nature and animals around the hotel are beautiful, but the food was bad. There was not much variety and the taste was poor. The service was also bad. When I turned on the air conditioner in the room, a very bad smell came out. The pillows smelled like moisture. There were not enough staff to help guests, and no one guided us inside the hotel. We had to find everything by ourselves.

No wheelchairs friendly, alot or rough spots to get through, broken wheelchair bathroom doors, awful unsafe ramps. Kids found dead cockroaches in the hallway that were there for multiple days. Food low quality and just underwhelming for the cost. Restaurants very limited times especially during slow season alot was unavailable.
