The rooms are great. The rest of the property lacked a lot. One buffet for breakfast, lunch, dinner. If you wanted to eat at a nice restaurant you would have to make reservations which did not have any time slots available for when we wanted to eat. We had to go into the town to actually eat dinner. There was no smoking on the property or any designated smoking areas. This was a major issue and will cause us and friends to never return to this property. We were treated as outcast and had to go out in the street or across the street to smoke. I understand people not wanting to be around smoking but they could at least had a smoking section. Also the seaweed was a major issue. They also don’t have a decent beach area so if you’re wanting to get into the ocean this isn’t the place for you.

We choose this property based on the terrific reviews of the food. Sadly we were very disappointed. The Mexican restaurant was awful, the steak restaurant served mediocre and concerning octopus. I got very sick after breakfast and ended up with E.coli (food poisoning) after eating one (or all of these items): scrambled eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese. I was extremely sick and on day 3 I had to have a doctor visit my room. I was sick for 4 of our 8 days. We travel to Mexico and eat EVERYTHING so don't dismiss this as "picky eater". We even ate ceviche in Coba and I didn't get sick. I don't think the refrigeration at salad bar area works very well. I'm not certain we would stay here again and stay were we did in December at Mahekal. There is zero beach at this hotel as most have completely eroded in this area. Its very sad.

This is a great little resort for the price point. Food was above average compared to a lot of resorts other resorts I’ve stayed at. They serve you premium alcohol too without having to spend extra. It was great trip and I’d would recommend the Wyndham alltra anytime.

I loved everything about this hotel. The food was great and after visiting the restaurants a couple of times the staff greeted me by name as I walked through the door. It’s in a great location. The spa was great. I’m already planning my next trip back it was amazing.

The first room the air conditioning was making noise. Couldn't sleep,had to be moved. 2nd room had to have the fan fixed. It was making a clicking noise. Been to this hotel 3 different times and loved it,this time the hotel food was ok. Probably wont stay again, sorry.

Not much beach area. Pool is not very big and does not have a swim up bar. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Nightly shows are in the lobby bar area so not much seating and kinda loud in the rooms above.

The beach was a bit eroded no fault of the hotel but for Playa Del Carmen it was probably the best choice. The beach walkout rooms are the best for sure.
