The hotel is nice, great location, and most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. However, this hotel has some weird rules. You can’t bring anyone to your room unless you pay 50 per person. You also can’t take food to your room. I was super confused as to why I can’t eat in my room? All in all I would probably stay here again however they need to change a couple of these rules.

I was looking for a cute, boutique hotel on or near the beach and The Reef 28 exceeded my expectations! The online registration process was simple and I was able to request early check in and late check out. You had the option to purchase excursions, too. I was given a welcome cocktail, then concierge gave me a tour of the facilities. Concierge also gave a pitch to attend a “presentation” at their other resort, with the offer of other amenities as gifts. However, I chose to not attend. I got the all-inclusive package, but I had to pay extra for top shelf liquor. It was worth it. The hotel is 2 blocks from the beach and one block from 5th Avenue that has all of the bars, restaurants, shops, and a mall. The only issue I had was the water in the shower wasn’t warm and I like a hot shower. I plan to return very soon!

The hotel overall was really nice, the staff were always pleasant and the food was amazing. Being all inclusive and close to 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen was very convenient and you always had something to do. The downside was the property was very small as was the one pool. The music played from 11am to 11pm very loudly so no relaxation at all. The beach was a block away but you could use two of the Reef’s other properties with beach access for an extra fee. In the end I would recommend this property.

9/10 would be 10/10 if there was more priority for those who are actually staying on the property over “walk ins”. since the property is open to the public the roof top beds and chairs fill up fast. also wasn’t a fan on how reservations were required for all food options minus buffets/pool bar. other than that loved my stay!!!!

Great stay! Loved the staff, food, and location! When I needed transportation, it was easy to arrange. The only issue was that I requested an early check-in at 11 AM, but my room wasn’t ready for over 4 hours. My guest and I had to wait in the warm lobby after our flight with no AC. Closer to check-in time, we were invited to the rooftop for lunch to pass the time, but still had to wait until after 3 PM to get our room. Other than that, everything was fantastic!

Everything was great until we got sick with diarrhea but I am not sure if the water in the hotel is to blame since we ate outside of the hotel one time . It could hv been from that place … We loved the roof top bar and area also the Buffett breakfast and Mexican restaurant . The hotel’s location is great close to the happening and love that we could shuttle to the other sister hotels and use their amenities for a small fee. Overall a great hotel and stay .
