Location was great for sightseeing in the Old Port of Portland, Maine. Room was clean, comfortable, included a refrigerator, several mirrors, which is convenient for friends getting ready in the mornings. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast had a wide variety of options. Coffee, hot water available all day long. Staff was friendly.

Peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling, piece of wood coming away from bureau, no housecleaning during our stay. No plates or napkins during breakfast and the food was terrible, had to use paper bowls and a roll of paper towels. Very disappointing after paying over $500 per night and $40 per day for parking. NOT worth the price

I had a bad experience with booking. I booked a king room through Expedia and then upon arrival was advised I’d be in a double room because they over-sold their king rooms and bump third party bookings first. At that point if they had just refunded the difference in the rooms I would’ve let it go but instead they advised I should contact Expedia for a refund. After going back and forth with Expedia the manager lied and stated that I had agreed to take a double room because it allowed me to check in early and I arrived before 4 pm, I arrived to the hotel at 2 pm to simply drop off my bags, upon arriving I again asked the clerk about the room situation, he stated they were sold out of king rooms and there was nothing he could do but advised my room was ready at the time anyway. Hampton Inn has denied a request for refund even though they are at fault for overselling the room and allowing it to still be available online.

This hotel was located in a central location and was very clean with friendly staff. Morning breakfast was pretty typical - not great options but not terrible either. We did not get to take advantage of much because it was a short stay but the room was pretty standard and comfortable. Our one complaint was that parking was not included and was quite expensive.
