Really cool vibe and very spacious for a hostel. The elevator broke while I was there, but the stairs weren't too bad and they had it fixed the same day - very repsonsive and helpful staff! And the restaurant in the lobby was awesome!

Stayed last week of Sept. 2024. Stayed in the 4-bunk room with rotating roommates for 8 days. Very simple "dorm room" style living but can't beat the price for downtown Portland. Bathroom/showers are shared so bring shower flip-flops if your room doesn't have a shower. My bed was hard as a rock, but it was fine for the price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is PERFECT. There is a small, safe, 24-hour access parking lot only about 200ft away that costs $15-$17 for 24-hour overnight parking. That is about the best 24-hour overnight parking rate you will find in Portland. The Portland Streetcar runs down MLK Blvd directly past the KEX.

Liked that there's a great restaurant on ground floor and shared bathrooms and rooms are well maintained. Lots of terrific spaces to hang out in. And the storage space under the bunks are spacious and could even fit my rolling carry-on size suitcase. The only minor desire would be if the upper bunks also had a closing curtain so that I could have even more privacy from the other top bunkmate. But definitely the best hostel I have stayed in.

Perfect for groups of friends!
I stayed here with my friends for my bachelorette; this place was a great pick! We stayed in the 6-person bunk bedroom. There was plenty of space for everyone and the beds were super comfy. This is a perfect place if you're looking to be near many fun things and want that boutique hotel feel.

Great last minute booking! The check in process was easy and they kindly gave us an upgrade. The room was cozy, though clearly had that “old building” feeling (for better or worse). We’d definitely stay there again!

Such a great place to stay! Super fun bar & dining options, easy to get to transit, and peaceful, pretty, comfty room (I opted for the single room and loved it)! Since this is a hostel, keep in mind some hotel-like services are not available (like a robe, daily room cleaning) and some maintenance items weren’t perfect (some duct tape on the shower and a bit of a musty shower smell), but it didn’t impact my stay negatively. The bed, restaurants, sauna, and location more than make up for it. Amazing, kind front desk staff, too. Thanks for a wonderful visit!
