Overall this was a good stay - a perfect walking location to a concert with my kids, close to Powell’s Bookstore, and the little kitchenette was great! It was also quieter than I anticipated of a downtown hotel. The staff were also super friendly and helpful. Our room wasn’t as clean as I’d expect of a hotel - there was hair on the floor and door of the bathroom. A prior hotel stay had left the window open and there were some little beetles and a giant wasp hanging out on the curtains by the window. None of these things deterred us from our stay, as they are things that easily clean up and were probably missed by the cleaning crew and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was great! We would stay here again.

We arrived early (due to flight changes) and requested an early check in (and offered to pay for it). The front desk clerk (female) was rude and sternly informed us they were not required to check us in until 4pm. I understand the policy, but when you can accommodate customers faced with travel changes, wouldn’t you try? We sat in the lobby area until 3:50pm at which time our room was ready. We saw four other groups check in early. Certainly a request could have been made to the cleaning staff to clean our room earlier than 3:50pm. Travel is hard these days, and a little flexibility and kindness goes a long way. The room (2 queen executive suite) needs some love - bathroom fan didn’t work, vent in bathroom was filthy. Only one elevator working. Other than the front desk clerk all other employees were very friendly. Overall not impressed and wouldn’t return.

Our room could have used blackout curtains though. The rooms are light colored so the light creeps in around the window shades and fills the room.
Clean, comfortable, nicely decorated. Very helpful desk staff. My only (small) quibble is that they didn't tell us when we checked in about the complementary social hour. I only saw a sign about it 15 minutes after it had finished
Wonderfully comfortable and friendly in the heart of downtown Portland. Modernization of beautiful vintage building is a lovely reuse of solid west-coast structures. Friendly, informed staff and wine & cheese happy hour tops off a wonderful stay.
This was a great hotel to stay at, right in the middle of town. Access to transit. Lots of great walkable places of interest. Love the hotel history, and the older buildings in the pearl district. We would definitely recommend to a friend, and book for my next stay.
We had a great time at Mark Spencer hotel! We were greeted with a very friendly and knowledgeable Anthony who was super helpful. The wine tasting hour was a good way to start our evening and the this location has you within a 15 minute walk of awesome bars/restaurants. The room was clean, spacious and the bed comfy. I would definitely stay again!
