It was a lovely historic hotel. We came for a NYE event and saw festivities occurring for guests when we came in and out. We chose a standard room, and it was a bit too small for us. Next time, we will likely invest in a larger one.

The staff were quick to help and kind at every turn. The property has so much history. Loved exploring the historical staircase and learning about all the fascinating people who have stayed here. Room service was quick and the food was cooked well. Breakfast in the Palm Court was quick and delicious!

We love the Benson and usually stay there when visiting Portland. The beds are so comfortable and the bedding is soft & luxurious. The historic hotel is beautiful. The only problem on this trip that it was that it was freezing cold in the lobby and would like to sit there and enjoy the fireplace and Christmas tree. It’s never been like that before and it was disappointing not to be able to hang out there and enjoy the atmosphere

Iconic Benson, Dog Adequate
Everything was just fine. Beautiful hotel accommodating staff. I must say I expected a little extra extra staying at the Benson. Which I didn't really feel. Beautifully decorated for Christmas which is what I was looking for. Accommodating a dog was a lovely option, but you don't get anything for the $40 charge and there's literally nowhere for the dog to go to the bathroom within a three block radius. I felt unsafe going out in the morning. I was able to get a dog bowl by calling housekeeping. Being able to be served drinks and snacks in the lobby with my dog was the best perk. The Benson is a classic, I've done it once but I'm not sure if I would come back here or try looking for that extra extra place.
