The Colony is a largely historic property with a superb view and outdoor pool about a mile (walkable) from Downtown Kennebunkport. Our room was not ready on time the day of check in, and we received mixed messages from staff about when it would be ready. Ultimately, we dealt with a staff member who was not helpful at all, some might say rude, following a day of travel and long wait. Fortunately, the gentleman at the pool and pool restaurant staff was lovely while we continued to wait and wait. We could not get a table for breakfast the first morning, which was frustrating. Our room was much smaller than advertised and did not have AC, which was not ideal in August. Overall, our experience at The Colony was mixed. The outdoor pool area overlooking the water was by far the best feature, but otherwise the hotel was a disappointment, especially for the price.

We enjoyed our stay at The Colony very much. We were in the newly renovated building, and it is very spacious, clean and comfortable. The common area is beautiful too. I think adding some vending machines would make things a little more convenient. (We arrived late, and cold have used a snack).

Loved my stay at The Colony.

I absolutely loved my stay in Kennebunkport & the Colony. The Colony is a very historic hotel in an absolutely unsurpassed location... truly like walking back in time. While some aspects of the property could use some updating, I give the experience a total 10 and highly recommend it to people that appreciate the historical significance of the experience and the stunning oceanside location. Can't wait to go back!

The hotel is in a wonderful location and offers great views. The accommodations are very basic and require updating. Some investment is required to bring the property back to its former glory. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The Colony Hotel definitely has an unbeatable location and some of the best views you could ask for — that part was truly impressive. Unfortunately, the rooms themselves were a big letdown. They felt very outdated, noisy, and not at all convenient. You can hear every step and conversation from upstairs, which made it hard to relax or get a good night’s sleep. For such a prime location, I really wish the accommodations matched the setting.
