The room was nice, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the bar and the restaurant downstairs. Disliked having to pay for an early check-in, especially since the room was available and their regular check-in time is late at 4pm. Hotels either have the room available or they don't (which is fair enough), I've never had to pay for an early check-in. Valet parking is also expensive - there is far cheaper parking available at the Tower although the area is full of homeless people (which might tempt you to use the valet), but that's obviously Portland's issue not the Paramount's. Overall would stay again as it's a nice hotel - just didn't like the optional extra fees.

Get the park view or regret it
This is my third stay at this hotel, and my least favorite so far. It was fine, nothing special. At first I was given a room on the 4th floor that was dark with a view of the drab rooftop air conditioning systems and pigeon poop. I asked to change rooms and was moved to the 12th floor which was better, but not what I had come to expect. I realized I didn't book the "park view" room like I normally do. That was a mistake. For only a few extra dollars the park view makes all the difference in how you perceive your stay at the Paramount. The room could've used some TLC, as the furniture was a bit worn, but the bed was comfy and it had a soaking tub which I used nightly. This hotel DESPERATELY needs room service. They do have two restaurants in house and you can order food to go, but it's not the same as room service... Otherwise this is a good hotel, though it's getting a little more pricey than competing hotels of similar quality.

The WORSE pillows! Who needs 6 pillows on a bed all of which are stuffed to the max and hard as a rock? The curtains don’t close all the way…I am starting to carry a chip click to close hotel curtains. The dinner at the restaurant was good and so was the breakfast. The Cesar salad left a lot to be desired. Dirty lettuce and the chicken was a concern! I wouldn’t feed that chicken to my dog…!

Front doors are very heavy and cumbersome to manage - 2 sets. Doorman often not there because of valet duties taking priority and attention. Told that room was ready but there was a charge for early check-in. Seemed unfriendly policy. Did willingly store our bags however.

Beautiful hotel located near shopping and great food options. We enjoyed going to the food trucks at 5th and Harvey Milk, a recommendation from the hotel’s bartender. The hotel was beautifully decorated, clean, and had a bigger bathroom than what we’re normally used to seeing.

Portland stay
Great room, nice soaking tub and shower. Nice restaurant and bar in hotel. Convenient to walk places. Unfortunate that they charge a destination fee. Can park in a secure garage 1 block away that is less than half the price the hotel charges.
