Seen Better Days

I needed a budget-friendly hotel near the University Hospital, and this hotel sufficed. The reception staff was friendly. My room was down a long, dark, musty corridor, but once there my room (253) seemed clean (although the age shows in the fixtures and the bathroom grout that has long since gone dark). There are signs for "restaurant," so maybe there was one once. But there is no food available at all except a cooler in reception with soft drinks for purchase, and a so-called breakfast buffet that was (at best) mediocre. This is an older property that could benefit from a serious refresh.

Over the last couple of years we have always stayed at this location for simplicity and proximity to the train station/system. This trip we noticed that the included breakfast has been severely limited and reduced. Part of the reason we have selected this hotel was because the breakfast was great. in 2025 that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. In its place is automated pancake maker and something that resembles eggs... The juice selection is now more watered down than ever and overall selection is very limited. What happened?

Solid hotel for a family stay downtown

I chose this hotel as the location and price point met my criteria. I was in Portland visiting my son and needed to be near downtown. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my stay. The hotel initially looked dated but as I checked in I noted how clean the lobby and how professional the staff was. This quality extended to my room which was large, super clean and very comfortable. Additional bonuses included reasonably priced parking on site and a nice breakfast provided in the morning. As the name suggests this hotel is near the University and I loved that it was close to a nice selection of food carts and public transportation.
