I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The little units were well equipped with a bed and bathroom, air conditioning, TV etc. The units are small but it was such an interesting experience so would highly recommend. The restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was well done and dinners were top notch. My only complaint was the main hall was warm but other than that it was well done.
This was one of the most beautiful hotels and the staff were amazing. Highly recommend doing the breakfast as it was fantastic and perfect before we set off to explore Isle of Skye for the day. I cannot recommend this place enough. Every staff member was amazing and so friendly!
The cosy cabin was clean and quiet located on hill. The main lodge was modern and comfortable. It was about a mile from the small town of Portree. While I did enjoy my stay, I felt it was very overpriced.

Clean, quiet, great breakfast. Our pod was very distant from main building. Walking in the rain back and forth was a little inconvenient. Overall, great stay.
Overall the cabin is very nice with great views. The food is amazing.
There are a few little things that were missed, that would've made the place exquisite. After check-in, we found an empty bottle of body wash and almost empty shampoo bottle. We got a half-empty bottle from the front desk that was never replaced during the 3 nights stay.
The walk to the top cabin was long and steep.
There are not enough instructions in the room or available at the desk for opertaing the heat/AC and the in-room safe.
Our room, cabin, was all the way on top of hill and we had to walk up a gravel road to get there. We were not aware of that, I had knee problem and could not walk up. They gave us instead the smallest cabin with no space to move or store anything and the install shower would not drain.
Skye is a special place and Braken Hide is great. The restaurant is amazing. Incredible breakfast and dinner. Most amazing is the service of the head waiter who is unfailing friendly and efficient. The tiny rooms are actually quite comfy. The shower was outstanding -- great water pressure. Its hard to sit up in bed because of the sloping ceiling, but otherwise very comfy and efficient. Amazing view from the front porch.
We had one of the newer cabins. It’s a little of a hike to all the cabins. The main reception has a chic bar and nice restaurant. Gorgeous view.
The biggest issue, which was significant, was that our room was not ready on arrival after 4:30 pm, and the same on the first day of our stay after a long day out.
Also, quite important, it would be more than a 20-25’ walk to town…which is not what I expected.
Our stay at the Bracken Hide was lovely. The rooms were very comfortable with excellent beds, climate control and fabulous views. The Scottish breakfast was the best we had our entire trip! Those in the family not wanted the heavier fare were quite happy with the croissants, muesli, yogurt, fruit and other offerings.
They should name this place the “Broken-hide”. First off , if I pay that much there should be a mini fridge in the room. No fridge. Had to walk all the way to the lodge to get ice. Had to hold my cheese and Meds in the lodge kitchen fridge. For that price , don’t you think there should be more than 10 minutes of hot water? The hooks were all broken, no place to hang towels.?No shelf in the shower so the shampoo bottles and soap bottle were on the shower floor. There is no service to take your bags to the room. You have to lug your luggage from the car park all the way to your room. And it’s a long walk, uphill most times. It’s even a longer walk just to get to the restaurant. Definitely not a realistic place for anyone with a disability or a little older. No music in the bar. The only good thing was the food. The food is really good. The views are Amazing and the location is good. But if you want to go to Portree it’s a 45 minute walk. They should have a simple van running every hour or two. It was truly a let down. The staff was wonderful but whoever owns this place is clearly making a money grab for the location and doesn’t seem to care about the details at all. I would source a Better B&B. We will post pictures online. I had high hopes for this place. A real let down.
Beautiful design, great breakfasts, friendly staff, great views! I loved the little cabins all spaced apart from one another.

Not 4 Star. Way too expensive. Pathways to pods, rocky and uneven. Breakfast, can't think of one that was worse. Plus, Staff were friendly and helpfull.

Expensive - Understaffed - Disappointing
Firstly applause to all the staff that work so hard in this hotel but seriously understaffed. Our check in time was 3:00pm but arrived room not ready had to wait two hours. The reception man just seemed embarrassed and couldn't really give us a time so we went into town and came back later. Restaurant closed for dinner during our stay. Breakfast so understaffed you feel guilty asking for anything as the one server was running around. Couldn't have latte as would take to long to make. Breakfast menu is ok if you like the options personally I like to have boiled eggs which in every other hotel we have stayed over the last few weeks was no problem but this extremely expensive hotel said the chef was too busy. Rooms were not cleaned for our two night stay no refills of tea supplies. No staff around after 9:00pm. Hotel wasn't at full capacity our first night so I feel so sorry for staff if it was they just wouldn't be able to cope. Management invest in some more staff before you add more of the huts. Very disappointing as the staff were lovely and the hotel very nicely decorated.

It’s a long walk from car to your chalet. The staff will take luggage up but not you. Hot old pretty quickly. Skye is a pricey market but no way this place is worth the cost.
Restaurant and staff are great. The town is not very nice.
