We enjoyed our time at the Riviera Maya staff was friendly and helpful. The few times we got into the restaurants it was good, but it was very hard to get a reservation. I think the reservations go more towards the exclusive customers. Gated community was nice friendly.

The property has to many deficiencies to mention , it would take several pages . The food program is TERRIBLE to say the least . Everything else is a matter of opinion . In the end I would not go back or recommend this property as I was very disappointed .

Save yourself the trouble. My husband and I booked a 9 days stay here and we were ready to leave after the first night. The rooms are old and in terrible need of rehabilitation. You literally can hear everything around you even with all your windows and doors closed AND there was A LOT of noise. Unfortunately for us we were lodged right next to the kitchen as well so we were constantly hearing the hustle and bustle of the entire resort. We even found a cockroach in our room. Additionally, by the second day of our stay, we were both sick because the air condition furnace was old and dirty so the air filtering in made us sick. Outside of the terrible room, the food options you have are 2 buffet dining options that serve an identical menu almost every single day. They had the exact same food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner all 9 days that we stayed here. They also do have 4 specialty restaurants that you must have a reservation beforehand. However, it’s almost impossible to get a reservation for these restaurants. You must wake up at 8am the day you intend to book and hope that everyone else is asleep and you might be lucky to get a reservation. Lastly, the beachfront is less than a mile long and the beach chairs are almost impossible to reserve. Oh and not to mention the hotel has a caste system going on where some guests have special privileges. They give you a colored bracelet when you check in and your color essentially determines what you have access to and how

Overall, pretty nice all inclusive resort. Not to big or small. Great for adults and families with children. Protected from the sea with barrier which increases feelings of safety. Food choices are good, tasty. Unfortunately, last two days we got sick (fever, sore throat etc.. It looks like the culprit is pure cleaning of glassware at the beach and pool bars. I would ask hotel manager to review cleaning practices related to properly washing reusable glass and plactic cups. Maybe its better to use single use cups or bring your own. Anyways ,thanks to all the staff and all the best.

We loved staying here at the Catalonia Resort in Riviera Maya. We paid a little extra for the newly renovated rooms and they were great. Also we got extra privileges to use special areas of the beach and an extra pool. One of the best things that was included with the nicer room upgrade was getting to go to the privileged restaurant called Bloved. It has amazing food and you don’t need a reservation for this restaurant. So there were days we couldn’t get a reservation for one of the other restaurants, but we didn’t mind because we would go to Bloved and get the best food every time. Great hotel, good food, wonderful time with the family. So many things to do and you don’t have to pay any extra for them. Just give tips and you will always be taken care of. They deserve the tips! They work very hard!!

I just want to worn everyone that the restaurant options listed on the website are just a misunderstanding advertisement. Restaurants are there but you are unable to get reservations and everyday there is a line of people complaining about this. For a week of stay there we were able to get only one reservation, after multiple complaints. The food at the buffet is not grate but you don’t have any other options. She’s and entertainment are not very good as well. Staff is nice, except guest services. The place is clean and the drinks were ok. Overall I would not recommend it as an all inclusive option, only as a regular hotel where you don’t plan to spend too much time.

Staff were nice. Area around the hotel is safe. Restaurants are nice, delicious food, and not expensive. Only one buffet restaurant actually available and the menu is the same every day. In order to make a reservation for any other restaurant, you must wake up early in the morning to make reservations. The app is open at 8am and out of 7 days not one reservation we were able to make. Fishing tours are a big scam as well. We booked a boat for 6 people (6 hours), and the one we got was for 3 2 captains. Had to return after 1.5 hours because it was unsafe to continue. Paid $650, no refund because it was our decision not to continue the tour. Construction was ongoing day-night; bars opening at 11am; no service around pool area or beach. Beach towels were old, worn out. Beach towel’s area closed down between 1-2pm every day. Would not recommend this resort.

Lots of construction didnt get to use swim up pool bars. Construction at 8am right out our patio doors. Couldn't book reservations for restaurants as it was supposably by 801 am. Staff wouldnt greet you. 1 Bartender through the whole place was friendly. Front desk was unhelpful to any of requests for knowledge. Bars closed by 10pm and didnt open till 11 am. Will not go back or recommend
