The house is spacious and beautiful. The pool was refreshing. We were grateful for the free WiFi and free parking. We truly enjoyed our stay. Some suggestions: Better communication to the security guards about guests coming would help. Many of the guards were not even aware of this property, and none of them spoke English. We had trouble getting through the two gates on more than one occasion. It would help to add the following for guest use: vegetable peeler, can opener, electric dishwasher soap, paper towels, cleaning products, replacement trash liners, mixing bowls, and dish cloths. Booking is very difficult if your arrival is after hours. We had to wire money for payment. More payment options should be considered, including allowing Expedia to be a payment broker, instead of only “pay at property.” The property manager should be more accessible prior to arrival. It took awhile for us to connect with the property manager, but once we could text with them, it worked out fine. There were no checkout instructions. The pool pump required repair while we were there, so we only accessed the pool at the start of our trip.

Sunset Fisherman is the best kept secret in Playa del Carmen/Playacar Phase 1. The beachfront property is awesome, tucked away, secluded, serves great food, has excellent staff who go out of their way to remember your name every time you visit and assist you with everything you could possibly need or want. It’s not super fancy but the resort makes up for it by offering free kayaking, catamaran rides, activities, and a general sense of warmth & welcome as. Just always feel at home here!

The staff serving food and drinks could have been more friendly. There was a scowly look on the guy serving pizza everyday. The food itself was not great and they required a 24 hr reservation at a restaurant that was clearly not full that night., not the next night when we got to eat after having to make the reservation. They have a charge there if you don't make it to your dinner or , so wonder if that was a money grab. Great beach location and pool staff was fun. Nice light show. Casino is gone and the Kinky night club that used to be there with dance/singing shows is no longer there. There was also a pool area now blocked off just for timeshare members. Rooms were clean. Huge pools were the highlight. Good location to hop on bus
