It is a busy resort, they are catering to a lot of guests. Unfortunately the food and drinks were horrible.The alcohol is watered down and the food is very poor quality. Upgrade to premium package is a joke. Only one bar w/real alcohol, but can’t leave the bar with it. Not enough towels, each day waited hours before getting a towel. Positive side: Ocean and Pool was nice. However, will NOT be back.

Its in a great location, its clean. For the money I thought there would be more variety of food in the buffet. The servers at the Ocean grill for lunch were very despondent. At the other restaurants the service was great.

The beach was amazing and the hotel is kept very clean. The facilities in the rooms and bathrooms need to be updated. The bathrooms on the hotel grounds are tiny and some of the toilets don’t flush well. Our phone in our room did not work to be able to call the front desk, the bathroom is a little outdated but bigger in the rooms, the food was okay-could have more variety each day and better quality. The eggs and meats tends to be overcooked. Pool could’ve been cleaned out more from bird poop. It was an okay stay we really did love the beach but other than that would not visit again.

I have been to many all inclusive resorts in the Dominican. VH gran wouldn’t be on the top of my list but it ok if you are just looking for an uneventful getaway. Pros: friendly staff, small resort, clean, Close to town and airport. Pool is big. Plenty of bars. Cons: everything closes early even the pool table use 7pm. Entertainment is mostly aerobics or volleyball in the pool. No good nightly shows. They offered a paint class but it was only for the kids club, which wasn’t advertised as such and I was actually looking forward to it. The buffet is small. Breakfast is the same every morning. Restaurants had small portions with limited options. If you don’t make sure to have a snack before 5 you have to wait for 6:30 dinner, the beach snacks were very limited. Not great when you are on an excursion. Beach had a breakwater so if you are looking for waves you need to walk far up the beach. Overall I would not stay here again but many people looked like they were having a good vacation.

This is my 2nd time visiting and I love it. The staff is amazing of course not all of them, but most of them are super nice. The food is amazing. Everything you could did ask for in one place. The entertainment is amazing (Henry is the best).

Stay away, go to any other resort in Puerto Plata except this one. They will scam you out of your money. Rooms were very out dated. Not even the WiFi worked.

The rooms are dated. It is a plus that room service was provided every day. Cleaning staff were very nice. Upon check-in there were no overall instruction as to how meals, restaurants, pool times, getting potable water in the rooms, minibar, locations of anything or really how the property worked so that the guest could maximize their stay. There was way too much focus on the towel cards and an emphasis on needing to return them or be charged $30 per card, the check-out process was equally confusing and lacked any real direction. The dining room staff clearly favored the customers who offered tips for better service. My dominican guests were treated poorly and different when me and my american guests were not present. Pools were clean however limiting the pool hours to 7PM is inconvienient. Not allowing guests to swim in the ocean after 1800 created problems. The food was horrible, everything seemed of the lowest quality and little flavor or care went into its preperation, they even somehow managed to cook rice poorly. Pasta, Pizza, and omelet stations are nice but when the ingredients are poor or the cooking technique lacking it doesnt matter. There was very little variety day to day, The hamburgers and hot dogs as snacks were probely the worst I ever had anywhere. I dont know what they put in the patties but it doesnt taste like beef. I would not stay at this property again.
