Nice suite, very spacious and with modern and convenient bath rooms. We got one shower and one bath tub. Very clean pools and beach with white sands, with close walking access. But no drink service at the beach and no luxury sun beds. Not a lot of options of dining. Steakhouse is the best, and then the Spanish restaurant. The sushi and Italian restaurants are a pass. This is the first resort (we’ve been in 5 here) that the staff doesn’t greet you.

Service was excellent. From crassanda at the front desk to Moises the server by the pool. Mayra and David did a great job at the cantina bar. Oscar was a delight at la fuente. There was a lack of places to get coffee. Premium lounge was very confusing. I was told by ceaser at the lounge I could not take any food or drink or but yet he encouraged us to take drinks and food or the next day.

The property is very beautiful with well planned pools and waterfalls as well as foliage that is gorgeous. The property is well kept, updated and clean. The rooms were very spacious and well appointed. The minibar in the room was refreshed daily but would have appreciated it being refreshed with the items utilized consistently. Cleaning service was great. Our room was on the second floor which has a larger balcony than other floors. The activities were well thought out and fun during the day by the pools. At night the staff entertained with a rotation of live music shows and cantina music. The bartenders poured healthy drinks. For evening meals you have a choice of the buffet or three meals/week at an upscale restaurant (Japanese, Spanish, Italian and American Steakhouse). The buffet has a variety of mostly baked and grilled choices appealing to most. The upscale restaurants are small and did not rate as highly as some I've been to at other all inclusive resorts. The service at the upscale venues was good but not great. One important thing to consider about Barceló is that it is in Mismaloya. This is perhaps 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. It is in a cove that is picturesque and surrounded by jungle. The bay has a very nice but small beach. So if you love to swim and walk on the beach it is not as nice as the hotel zone. There are jungle hikes and a 1.6 km walk to a zoo that are worth doing nearby. There is also a pickleball court that we used daily.

I would really like to give this hotel a five star rating but the check-in process and dinner reservations were a nightmare. We arrived after 5 pm. The concierge desk closes at 5 pm. Dinner reservations are only available from the concierge desk. So we couldn't make a dinner reservation! In an all-inclusive resort where dinner is included!! I had to troll from restaurant to restaurant to see which had tables available. THEY ALL DID! That didn't stop me being hassled at every step by a Maitre D' about how I wasn't following procedure. And we were premium guests in a premium room at a premium ($500 plus rate per night). It is the 21st century, Barcelo Puerto Vallarta! It's OK that the concierge goes home at 5pm, but then, let the front desk handle the dinner reservations. Your computer system can handle it. Don't make your guests paying for an executive corner suite haggle with the restaurant staff about getting a table in a half-empty restaurant! Bonus points to the hotel if they don't insist that gentlemen not wear t-shirts to a restaurant that doesn't have linen on the table. No linen on your table equals no requirement for linen (or cotton) long sleeve shirts on your patrons' backs. That said, the location and facilities at this old-school, all-inclusive hotel are first rate. I really want to give it a five star rating but the management really need to join the 21st century, in tech and attitude.

Surrounded by the jungle and mountains,you are in the only big resort on the Bay. The Zoo is in walking distance, and many tours are available from the front desk. We had excellent meals at the different restaurants. Swimming and snorkelling in the bay is a blast, and Los Arcos is very close. Oh, and the Taco lady makes 'em fresh and fast.

We have stayed at other Barcelo properties that were of overall higher quality. But this is a smaller property and has some redeeming qualities. One thing we observed was there was only one small cantina to go and have a drink and place to visit. This needs to be larger or another option. Staff are pleasant and food is ok. Rooms are large in comparison to other resorts. It really depends on what you are looking for. If it’s a high end resort this may not be the one but if you like a smaller resort that does not have all the amenities, then this resort may suit you. We came across lots of people who absolutely love the resort. In the rooms, some consideration should be given for cleaning textured surfaces efficiently as that was one are we noticed was not as cleanly as the rest of the room and resort.

I recently visited this location, and while it has a nice atmosphere and pleasant surroundings, there are several areas that need improvement. The service was notably slow, which took away from the experience. Additionally, there isn’t much in the way of entertainment for adults—more activities or events would definitely enhance the overall vibe. Unfortunately, a few of my friends experienced food poisoning during our visit, which was extremely concerning and certainly affected our enjoyment. This is something that needs urgent attention, as food safety should always be a top priority in any establishment. Overall, it’s a relaxing spot for a quiet time, but if you’re seeking faster service, better entertainment options, and a more reliable dining experience, this place might not meet your expectations.

The place is nice. However after you pay a big price to stay all inclusive. When you arrive they tell you no premium drinks. You have to buy the upgrade. Very poor way of doing business. We will not return.
