There was no “VIP” treatment or upgrade. Perhaps Expedia should drop this resort as a “VIP”, because the front desk could have cared less when I showed them my Expedia badge. Pros: Good service! Cleaners were always cleaning! Security guards at every entrance! Good drinks! Comfortable rooms! Cons: Rude front desk staff, being placed in “Mountain Section”, buffet dining was strict- husband got kicked out during lunch for wearing a tank top (he was not wearing swimwear). Food was good, but a bit repetitive after a week. All in all, would not return

We had a great vacation here, and i think most of the other negative reviews are a bit overblown. As long as you keep in mind this is an older, budget resort you'll have a great time. Heres answers to questions: 1)Food- Really hit and miss. Either fantastic (Asian and Italian restaurants, ceviche place) OK (buffet) or not so great (snack bar, surf and turf restaurant). We only got 3 restaurants for a 6 night stay, book those as soon as you get there. 2)Drinks- Great. Fast bar service. Getting drinking water bottles in room wasn't consitant, so you have to fill your bottles at jugs at the bar. 3)Pool- Older, but good. Nice ledge around it for kids to stand on and jump off. Kids area OK too, but pool was deep so main pool was better for kids. You need your own cup with lid for swim up bar, but the regular bar gave you drinks for beside the pool. Need to reserve your pool chair by 7:30 AM or you won't get one. Staff didn't remove items from unattended chairs. So good for the people who reserve, bad for those who sleep in. 4)Beach-Right in front of the hotel is a rocky and the beach isn't very big. A few chairs and umbrellas, but again, reserved very early. We had an umbrella/blanket and walked over to the resort next door which had a huge beach with no rocks. Overall- great location close to the airport, staff and drinks good, and if you are on a budget you'll be happy. If you want a more premium experience, probably better to pay more at a newer resort.

Horrible check -in and check -our experience. No instructions given at Check-in. At check-out I left the key in the room ( like I have done at reputable resorts) but at this place one if the women working at the front desk told me to go back to my room and bring her the key or else she'll charge a fee. I told her it was okay then she changed her mind and told me she'll call the police if I did not go to the room and bring the key to the front desk. I told her I would not and she can call the police. Finally a male employee went to the room and got the key. Worse service and treatment I have ever experienced. This was a last minute weekend getaway and not too many hotels with suite floorplans were available so I booked Canto. Needless to say I would never stay there again and I do not recommend it to anyone. My one star is for the very few employees who tried to be attentive. Overall, it was a terrible stay

Great affordable property. Reservations are just a bit tedious for the restaurants and the buffet is too small for the guest equipped. I would definitely come back though.

The resort is clean and our room was nice. Service was not great, food was more for local cuisine, it was alright but not a lot we could find we would eat. Tried the Italian restaurant, chicken was so over cooked it was rubber. There is a lot of local restaurants that were really good. The kicker was check out. We had a Later flight but you had to return wrist bands at 11am. You were no longer welcome on the property at all. Just the main lobby. If you wanted to keep the bracelet longer, it was 1000 pesos. They were rude to us when we asked questions and just due to this I would not recommend this hotel again.

Restaurants were very good, buffet always had different options. We were across the bridge room was a lot to be desired!! Bathroom was disgusting, toilet tank wouldn’t seal , 3 or 4 days we never got towels. Called for towels and then it was a crap shoot if they would bring them!! Patio door could have been opened by a toddler from the outside when it was locked
