We recently stayed at Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta, and overall, it was a very average experience that did not justify the price we paid.
The staff was generally kind and tried to be helpful, but many of them struggled with English. That being said, we were able to communicate one way or another, so it was manageable.
The international buffet was very disappointing — the food lacked flavor and variety. In contrast, the Italian and Mexican à la carte restaurants were actually quite good and offered much better dining experiences. The Equinox bar upstairs was also a nice spot.
Our room was clean, which we appreciated. However, room service through the app was unreliable — on some occasions, our orders were forgotten completely.
The worst part of the stay was definitely the Wi-Fi. It didn’t work in the room at all for the majority of our stay, which was a big problem for me as I needed stable internet for work. I reported this issue several times, but no real solution was offered. The Wi-Fi only started working properly on our last day, possibly due to some maintenance, but by then the damage was already done.
For the price of around 320 CAD per night, this resort is not worth it. If you find a deal for around 200–250 CAD, it might be acceptable, but I personally wouldn’t return. I honestly wish we had chosen a different hotel — I left feeling quite disappointed.
