It was between seasons -- spring break and summer tourists -- so the property was under cleaning and reno ops, but didn't take away from overall wonderful services. The staff from getting out of our vehicle to leaving was superb. Everyone aimed to please with genuine hospitality and customer service. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. If you cannot find something from the lavish breakfast buffet, you are not hungry! The pool and beach were well-maintained. Although this property shows some age, it is a large convention site that caters to guests' needs. Close to the airport and near the marina with a few shops and restaurants, I will admit it is a little farther than preferred for downtown sites, restaurants and shopping. Uber is the way to go!

This has been, without a doubt, the worst resort experience of my life. My stay at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa from May 14-20th was a parade of incompetence, disrespect, and outright theft. If I could give zero stars, I would. Let's start with the "Spa & Confusion" debacle. On Saturday, May 18th, around 11 AM, my wife tried to book a spa appointment for Monday. Initially, only afternoon slots were available, so she booked for 3 PM. Shortly after, realizing it conflicted with other activities, she cancelled it at the spa. Later that day, around 2 PM, I went back to the spa to reschedule for Monday morning, and suddenly, 10 AM was available – conflicting with what we were initially told. Fine, we booked it. Then, the true nightmare began. My wife received a call from the spa claiming we missed a Saturday appointment. This was baffling, as we never scheduled for Saturday! We were forced to waste our time trying to confirm there would be no cancellation charges and that our Monday appointment was correct. The front desk spa worker on the phone, instead of clarifying, became aggressive, snapped at my wife, blamed her, and then hung up on her mid-sentence. The concierge then told us we might get a cancellation charge and that the original Monday 3 PM appointment was indeed cancelled. Fast forward to Monday morning, 10 AM, we arrive for our rescheduled couples massage. The person checking us in, Lupita, rudely stated there was an appointment for 3 PM – the one we were

Horrifying Experience at Marriott Puerto Vallarta – Theft, Disrespect, and Zero Accountability. I had clearly taken precaution to hide my watch deep within my backpack with items covering the dust bag where the watch was in and Marriott staff open my backpack and stole my watch. Marriott took zero action and didn’t resolve and instead blamed the Marriott customer for the situation and pushed the Marriott customer aside and dismissive of the situation. Very bad experience with Marriott.

This property is dated and old. It’s a great location but it’s super dated and they need to upgrade the place and make it modern. The drinks our crappy and the bar staff you can tell they don’t care. They are short staffed so it’s takes a long time to get a drink or food at the pool area. The only thing I liked was the buffet breakfast.

The grounds are beautiful and truly make this hotel spacial including the beautiful bronze sculptures, The rooms are in need of maintenance and updating. The beds are the wiser ever and yet the linens are very nice. The front staff, especially Celeste are very pleasant but she needs a tremendous amount of training. She has moved us 4 times in two weeks, often being told we need to move on the same day. She does not understand the importance of saying what the total new rate will be for a room, she only includes the additional upgrade cost. She is so nice, and yet quite unaware of how frustrating she is to work with. We planned on bringing 50 people here several times a year, but based on our horrible experience of starting in a panoramic view, to a junior suite, to an ambassador suite and now back to the original room, we will be looking at other hotels. We went from paying $250 for our first two weeks, then she quoted us $500 a night for the next two weeks even though my Expedia reservation showed half of that. If we didn’t like the facility, the staff, location and delicious food so much, I would have left by now. I am looking for a new place as I write this. Train your people to work in a way that Americans and Europeans can understand and provide much more training to your front staff. The rest of the staff are impeccable

Great Service, Great Food—But Please Don’t Turn This into a Playland The service here is excellent, and the dining options are well-rounded. The Japanese restaurant, in particular, is outstanding. I've truly enjoyed my time here and appreciate the relaxing atmosphere the resort currently offers. That said, I'm very disappointed to hear that the new owners plan to transition the resort to an all-inclusive model. Puerto Vallarta is a foodie’s paradise, and part of the magic of staying here is exploring the incredible local restaurants throughout town. Limiting guests to on-site dining would take away a huge part of the PV experience. I hope the owners understand that many of us don’t want to be locked into resort meals, no matter how good they are. I also heard plans to add a lazy river, which feels more suited to a theme park than a sophisticated beachfront resort. A new adults-only pool sounds promising, but I’m confused why it’s being placed closer to the hotel rather than near the ocean—where adults typically want to relax and enjoy the view in peace. This is a special place. I truly hope the new direction doesn't strip away what makes it feel like an escape for adults, not a resort for families with pool floaties.
