Poor Service & Unclean Conditions

Stayed 5 nights and had multiple issues. First room had cockroaches. We were moved, but the second room had a leaking bathroom, followed by an unpleasant smell of sewage. We reported both problems and got zero resolution or compensation. Service was terrible, staff was rude, including the towel attendant who slammed the window on guests. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was a daily scramble, with food being removed even while people were still eating. The entire resort was overcrowded and tall the pools were uncomfortably HOT. For the price and the number of rooms our group booked (23 family members) this hotel was a major letdown. Would not stay again.

Overall great experience on cleanliness, feeling safe, entertainment. We went with a group of friends and had kids aged 13- 16; they were on their own walking about nd not bored for a second! To mention the fine dining experience for dinner- most places you have to get in ahead of time or book to be able to dine. Great food though! Regarding the buffet, the food quality deteriorated by day 3 nd selection of fruits were not that great. So rating 3 out of 5 for the buffet. But overall, great get away!

Food wasn’t bad but it was definitely quantity over quality with the options. Internet was pretty consistent throughout the whole resort. Room service came daily and tidied things up although the sheets and bed could have been cleaner as there were always visible stains on them. Staff were very nice and came very quickly to fulfill any requests. Overall not a bad experience and no one in our 6 person group got sick once.

The food was just okay. While there were many options available, I’ve had better at other resorts. The burgers, in particular, were quite disappointing. The restaurants booked up quickly, and we didn’t get a chance to eat at them because of that. The bed wasn’t very comfortable either. It felt too bouncy for a good night’s sleep. On the plus side, the service and cleanliness were excellent. However, it seems like they don’t offer room service, as there was no menu in the room, and we had to wait for the buffet to open to eat pretty often.

The food was on point at the restaurants. The beds were comfortable and the rooms got cleaned each day. The pools are nice and the service at the bars are great especially the theater bar with Alex very funny guy and great service.... I never did receive my $500 USD to use at the hotel though as it was offered on this app...

Hermosa playa para familias con niños, muchas muchas palmeras, todo muy bien, excelente servicio y muy limpio, sólo me hubiera gustado que hubiera algo de sombra para protegerse un poco de sol tan fuerte al estar dentro de las albercas, sólo en la de adultos daba algo de sombra, aparte de eso, disfrutamos mucho nuestra estancia.

We stayed at RIU Vallarta in July 2025 and were very disappointed. The beach and pools were nice, but that’s where the positives end. There’s only one breakfast restaurant, and it smelled strongly of fish every morning—it made me feel sick. The food overall was repetitive—same soup daily and identical menus at all restaurants, including Il Gusto. We also found blood stains on our bed sheets and lipstick marks on the pillowcase, which was shocking and unhygienic. I had ordered water through the RIU app and assumed it would come in the morning. That night, a male staff member knocked several times while I was putting my baby to sleep. When I didn’t answer right away, he used his key card to enter our room without permission. It felt extremely invasive and unsafe. The staff offered to change rooms, but we’d be without a room from 11 AM to 4 PM—not acceptable with a baby. Loud music played late into the night, and staff came across as intimidating when we raised concerns. We reported everything to Expedia, who contacted the hotel, but no action was taken. I wouldn’t recommend this resort to families or anyone expecting cleanliness, safety, and respectful service.
