First of all terrible check in experience . first room was dirty and broken . Looked like a bad motel room . Second room wasn’t much of an improvement the refrigerator was broken for 2 days and mini bar stock is one bottle of water, 3 cans of beer and 2 sodas , the resort accommodations are dated . It’s quite boring and uneventful even the hotel lobby bar closes by 11pm. . Drink options are just mediocre. The pool area closes at 7pm. No accommodations were made for all the trouble for and during check in . The towels were old as well in the room., everyday we had to ask for towels . The food options are like being in a college dormitory . How could there not be coconut water available anywhere ? No avocados ? Room service which was included in our package was absolutely terrible and not even edible but then charged as an expense when we went to check out . We spent most of our time using the sister resort pool area , for as a family resort it was way livelier. Those restaurants lacked service and the food was just mediocre. The highlight was the coffee, rum & cigar bar . I guess if you’re 60 plus this would be perfect for you. How disappointing to select a resort that’s rated “wonderful” for our first trip to DR. It clearly was not wonderful at all. I would definitely not recommend these accommodations.

The check-in process was a nightmare. We were initially sent to a room on the first floor where the patio door did not lock, raising serious safety concerns. After reporting the issue, we were sent to a second room, only to find it was already occupied—we accidentally walked in on a man who was undressed. When we brought these problems to the receptionist, we were treated poorly, spoken to rudely, and never received an apology. The receptionist was visibly upset with us, rolling her eyes repeatedly. After two frustrating hours, we were finally given a room that was acceptable, though far from ideal. The bathroom door in this room did not close properly, and the overall condition of the space was outdated. It took several phone calls to get someone to fix the safe, which was not functional. The food and restaurants were average at best, and the pool area lacked music or any form of entertainment, making the experience dull.

The Bavaro Barcelo Beach Hotel made my first impression of DR a memorable one. I love this property so much, I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. We had an ocean view premium room and I really enjoyed the extra amenities we were offered. Overall I had a really great Birthday Trip.

I have an extremely long review & I cannot submit the whole thing. All I'm going to say is I was disappointed. There was mold in our room. We were not offered any sort of conpensation. The light in our swim-up pool didn't work... so we couldn't swim in the evenings or really sit out on the patio because it was too dark. The food was mediocore. where do I start? We were initially whisked off to the "VIP" lounge....where the clerk was rude, not informative...withheld important information..didnt give us keys for towels and had to come back...didnt recommend MANDATORY dinner reservations for every evening...but when listening to customer next to us, who made their reservations for entire week, offered us 9:30pm for that evening. went round and round, and finally got 6:30pm at other resort. the resort is very old, with warped doors, and extremely thin walls. the worst part, was ALL employees would rather ignore you or go out of way to serve you. this includes the VIP lounge, buffet people, bar and restaurants. dirty cups and coconut drinks littered around pool for HOURS! BREAKFAST was only in one restaurant, and food unacceptable. waffles like hockey pucks. would not recommend this resort to anyone. rotten entertainment! worst part, was the employees!!!

Property was pristine and tidy, very nice. Pool was gorgeous. Bartenders were friendly and drinks good. Some Front desk staff and cleaning ladies had bad attitude with no concern for customer needs. We’re overtly bothered by requests.

We arrived at the property at 4pm after a long day of travel and we were not greeted or acknowledged by the "Premiere" check-in staff for 20mins. After the staff finally acknowledged us and checked us in, we were told our room was not ready yet and had to wait an additional 30min. After 30mins, we only knew that our room was ready because we returned to the check-in desk and asked. Otherwise, we would not have been told! After being escorted to our room, (of which we paid extra for an ocean view!!), the room was located on the ground level facing the pool. If I stood on my toes and looked VERY hard, I could see the ocean. Disappointing!!! The room was musty, and the bathroom was dirty (hair on the floor and you could not see through the glass shower divider. I thought it was stained, but nope, it was dirty!) Additionally, the safe did not work, and there was not hot water for 2 days! The room was very run down! The staff at the buffet restaurant(s) were not attentive or friendly! Half the time they would not acknowledge us to obtain a drink, and half the time we would ask for one and it would never show up before we were done eating. The food was not good, and it seemed they would "reheat" the same items from lunch/dinner. The only good thing that I have to say about this resort is the pool is nice, but they need to buy more loungers! If you don't place your towel by 7am, good luck finding a chair!
