My husband and I booked an Excellence Club Honeymoon beachfront suite and it was just breathtaking. Everything about this resort is a 10/10 It was clean. The room was great and the service was amazing! Yorge our bellboy made our experience even better! He helped us out so much during our stay. We really couldn't thank him enough. The property was OK We had some issues and they were never resolved. The honest, best part about this resort was the tomahawk inside of the magna restaurant, but you had to be in club excellence to receive it. We did get a private pool suite and that was nice, but it’s really not private because you can still see people on the other side of the pool. I probably would not return to this resort.

Excellence El Carmen was a huge disappointment for our honeymoon. The resort feels lifeless, with no music anywhere. We were told the administration removed all speakers across the resort. Guests rarely interact, and the only daytime activity I saw was a silent disco with headphones. At night there is a disco in the main building, but the nightly show only lasts one hour from 9:30 to 10:30, then nothing. The food was bland, poorly presented, and far from luxury quality. The only night it was good was at the Spanish restaurant, when we were told food was coming out slow because of a kitchen inspection. We realized the sudden improvement was due to the inspection, confirmed the next morning when we saw men tasting food at the breakfast buffet and entering the kitchen with staff. Cleanliness is poor. On our first day, a nasty white substance floated in the main pool and stayed there until I reported it the next day. Other areas were dirty and my room had worn, loose fixtures. They advertise six outdoor pools, but only one is open to everyone, another is for Club members, and the rest do not exist as described. Magna restaurant is Club-only, and several others were closed multiple days per week: Basmati closed Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat; Chez Isabelle closed Tue, Thu, Sun; Agave closed Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat. For a honeymoon or special trip, skip this place and choose Paradisus Palma Real for far better food, atmosphere, and overall quality.

Everyone was friendly and makes you feel like you are not a bother, anything you need you can request and they will accommodate the best they can. It was beautiful, smelled good and you can see they maintain the property consistently. Already talking about going back

First , this is not a party resort . If you looking for party , this resort won’t give you that vibes . With that said , it’s very couple oriented . More of an intimate vibes . Housekeeping literally touches your room at least twice a day . Everyday we got a full bottle of champagne. The service is the best we’ve had . The food is a hit or miss but by day 3, you would find fav spots . We had fun

Excellence El Carmen is a great resort! We stayed in a junior suite with the pool view and the room was spacious and wonderful. Jacuzzi tub, outdoor patio on the balcony to lay out…great. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The pool and pool bar are excellent. Our favorite restaurants were Agave and Magna (Excellence Club only). We will definitely stay here again when we return to the DR!

From arrival at the resort the excellent service begins when greeted personally at both the gated entrance and at the hotel entrance. Staff were immaculately uniformed, pleasant, polite and very friendly. The room was exceptional, very spacious and well equipped. Room service excelled. The choice of restaurants and quality of food was excellent. Only one night did we have an issue with the food being served cold, it was quickly resolved and staff were centrally informed of the issue. No booking necessary and dress code applies for afternoon dining at the many pools available. How could we fault their magnificent resort.. well… up until the day before leaving I was seriously ill after somehow catching food poisoning. It had to come from the resort as it was the only place we ate. The hotel doctor was in attendance and immediately called an ambulance. I was treated exceptionally well in the hospital but missed our flights as I wasn’t fit to fly. The hotel group at this point weren’t considerate. We needed to stay an extra 2 days at almost full rate. This was hugely disappointing as the illness was directly connected to the hotel. This cast a shadow on the otherwise attentive service received.. We felt the hotel should have given us a good discount but wouldn’t budge in their decision. The 2 days we had to stay before organising frights, hotel and connecting flights was far from a holiday. I was still very ill although doctors cleared me to fly. I didn’t eat or drink an

We were in a room that had poor AC service and was warm. We reported this to the property and they sent engineers to repair several times , but it never cooled properly and hotel did not offer to move us into a new room. This was not acceptable considering the cost for the package.
