Booked 2 rooms both rooms sheets weren’t changed and it had red stains which looked like blood and we had bug bites for the 1st 2 days from the bed we were sleeping in. Also I noticed roach in one of the bedrooms and I complained to the manager at RIU palace Bavaro his name is Erik. He said he would look into it and I asked him what is he going to do about it and if they can compensate us but he never got back to me. They did change the sheets for the last 2 days of my stay however I would like to receive refund back for the 1st 2 days of my stay there.

The pool was decent, the staff was friendly but the service was improper. The food was horrible, from the Buffett to the specialty restaurants, all the food was really bad. The utensils and plates were dirty, there was always some grime on them. Unfortunately we will never go to a Rio after this experience. 👎

Room were better than previous remodel , it might have been the time we went which was from 12/22-12/27 as it was busy . We found as a party of 6 the buffet option was the best. Elite pool was awesome , bartender Enrique , Cristian , Misael ( I believe that was his name ) they were awesome ! They made our stay great and worth it ! Enrique has been a favorite for over 6 years and also Stephanie at the buffet has been great ! Truly class act. I will continue to go there but staff need to be friendly as the names I mentioned as many appear not to have the same energy as Enrique , Cristian , and Michal . Cristiano which I believe was a manager was also very friendly and walked the property engaging with allot of the guest ! I also forgot to mention Rafael ( Rafa ) and the pool attendant at the elite pool as they were awesome !

Room was clean, everything functioned well. Beds were actually very comfortable. Staff everywhere was so friendly and helpful!! Especially at the breakfast buffet- always welcomed us with smiles and singing/dancing. Plenty of room at the pool and beach. There was always chairs available at the beach. We just returned from a 7 day stay at the riu palace Bávaro. We travelled as a family of (2 adults and 2 children ages 13&15). The hotel room was updated, clean, and the beds very comfortable. The room was cleaned every day and our fridge / water restocked. The hotel and pool areas were maintained well. The beach was nice although some seaweed washed on shore by the waves. But the hotel tried their best to remove daily. We did not love the food at the restaurants nor the buffet area. It was not flavorful and dished were not always clean. This could improved. My daughter and I got sick unfortunately even so we practiced good hygiene and did not drink the water nor use ot to brush our teeth. The rest of our family did not get sick. The wait staff was fantastic - all worked very hard and were friendly we loved our waiter Daniel - he was exceptional and always got a table ready for us and always refilled our drinks We loved the entertainment shows every night - the hotel did a great job with the program and variety. The bar staff was nice and friendly. Overall our stay was good.

Just returned from there 12/25/25 and it is probably the most beautiful property we have ever gone to. Clean, well maintained, great staff. The only down side to the property was the food and dessert. Food was just ok and dessert was crazy limited. It was fine and I'd go back.....just not up to par with the rest of the property.

There were some areas that were short of staff and they were not very clean. The quality of the entertainment, and shows was not good at all.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The only down side of the resort is there is limited seating in the restaurants (which are pretty small mostly) so if you are not there early it is hard to get in to try the different restaurants & end up having to just go to the buffet. The food is ok, drinks are good.
