Great for Families, but Service and Dining Fell Short
We recently stayed at SLS Playa Mujeres for a family vacation. While the resort has a modern aesthetic and feels upscale at first glance, our experience was mixed—especially when it came to food and service.
One of the biggest frustrations was the dining situation. Even though it’s an all-inclusive resort, you still need reservations for most restaurants, and getting those reservations wasn’t easy. It felt like there simply weren’t enough spots to accommodate all the guests, which made meals more stressful than they should be. On top of that, service at the restaurants was inconsistent—orders were often wrong, incomplete, or randomly substituted without explanation. Several times, we either had to reorder or just go without parts of our meals.
The grounds were beautiful, but surprisingly already showing signs of wear and tear—even though the resort is relatively new. That raised some concerns about long-term maintenance.
That said, this resort is definitely kid-friendly and had a lot to offer for families in terms of space, pools, and general atmosphere. If dining isn’t a huge priority for you and you’re just looking for a relaxing spot with family, this could still be a good fit. For us, though, the service and dining issues were enough to make us reconsider coming back.
