We had high hopes for our stay at the Sonesta in Rapid City, South Dakota, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience overall. The only truly positive interaction was with the gentleman who checked us in—he was kind, respectful, and professional. Sadly, the rest of the staff we encountered were rude, unhelpful, and seemed completely disorganized. The website advertised both a swimming pool and a restaurant on site—neither of which existed. This felt like blatant false advertising and was a big letdown. To make matters worse, the air conditioning was out for the majority of our stay. Our room was nearly 90 degrees, and while they did provide us with a fan, they told us the AC would be fixed that night. It never was. When we politely followed up the next day, we were met with attitude and borderline hostility, as if we were wrong for even asking. On a more positive note, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was decent—but that alone didn’t make up for the many frustrations we experienced. I would not recommend this hotel unless significant changes are made in both staff training and the accuracy of the amenities listed online.

The staff was slow pulling up my reservation. He handed me my key with no directions. The room was hard to find, in a weird location. The was dried blood spots on the sheets. The overall room cleanliness was not good including the shower.

Staff was rude. It is not ADA compliant. There are only 2 floors and no elevator, which is understandable, however, its not mentioned at all. We will never stay there again. It was the worst out of all that we have stayed at.

We booked a suite with the Jacuzzi hot tub and it made my wife's trip. The separate living room it's own bathroom was very nice too as the driver went to bed earlier than the passenger and didn't get woke up by bathroom use. Well be back next time through

I appreciated they were able to check me in early. Nice, clean room. Loved how they dispense shampoo, conditioner, and gel wash in bathroom and shower. Nice. Overall a very nice experience.

On our second night of stay the water heater wasn’t working and we consulted with the front desk. The response was they’d call maintenance and they don’t have idea if or when it would be fixed. We were not offered any remedies such as to swap rooms, and had to endure cold water shower.
