Great centrally located hotel

A lovely hotel, centrally located on Laugevegur. Although we’d emailed ahead to pay for early check in, our room wasn’t ready when we arrived but we were able to leave our luggage in the luggage room and explore the city. Laugevegur is a pedestrian street in the part where the hotel is so it isn’t possible to be picked up or dropped off directly outside. The bus stop for Flybus (and tour pick ups) is number 14 at the bottom of a reasonably steep hill - getting the suitcases up was a challenge but it was easy to get them back down! The hotel was welcoming and very clean. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. The free buffet breakfast was delicious and we appreciated the croissants, fruit and coffee left out for guests departing before the breakfast service at 7am. The hotel location is great for seeing the sights of Reykjavík and there are some lovely places to eat nearby. All in all, a great value hotel which was comfortable and conveniently located - just wish I’d known about the climb up the hill in advance!

Great location for a base in Reykjavik

A couple of salient points to add to my review from last week: the room was warm but not as oppressively so. The bed was soft but not as ridiculously so. Overall the stay was therefore more comfortable. I discovered that the hotel can be accessed from both front and back by an alley which runs beneath a glass fronted staircase linking two parts of the hotel. From Grettisgata, where you can park on street, you are looking for an area of disabled parking set back from the street with steps down to the alley, which is covered by a glass fronted strip of building. Parking on street here is limited to 3 hour sections and is not charged 9pm-9am (10am at weekends). This time I was offered coffee or hot water for tea at breakfast. This filter coffee was part of the free breakfast, but cappuccino etc. was chargeable.

Nice spot from which to explore Reykjavik

Check-in quick and pleasant. Communal areas have quite a chic, boutique, feel. Room decor didn't quite match up style- wise, though everything was clean and seemed quite new. For me the room was over heated and the bed was waaaay too soft, but I realise this would leave others in heaven. All four coffee pods (well done on having totally compostable ones) were full caffeine, which is this reviewer's heaven but will not please everyone. Breakfast was well organised so while the buffet area is small there was a decent choice available without much queuing. Very good selection of breads, including, i think, a gluten free option. Some pastries. Yoghurt. Cheeses and cold cuts. Sliced tomato, cucumber, melon. Hard boiled eggs, juices. Basically as you would expect, or hope. I wasn't offered any coffee though, or asked if i would like one, which is especially odd as the (Costa branded) drinks menu on the table implied that this would be chargeable. That may not be the case, as the breakfast area doubles as a cafe during the day, but either way not to be asked felt strange. Overall, the hotel offers good value and a convenient location. I'm booked to return next weekend and don't feel that is a bad choice. I'll review that stay if I'm left with anything different to say.

The hotel is very central and within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and ensured we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious with good beds and linen. We would happily stay again.

Nice Hotel for short stay

This is a nice hotel in a great part of Reykjavik. The breakfast was excellent and I liked that they give you the option of whether you want housekeeping or not beforehand. The bed was way too soft and there was no noise protection at all. Every person walking by on the street outside was easily audible through the window :( but the room was clean and the staff were pleasant. It's a bit of a walk in the wintertime from the nearest bus stop but if you have a car it would be easy to get to.
