Nice stay.

It was a good stay. It’s in a great location for any business af VCU. Easy walking distance. Hotel is dated and a little old. Dust in the corners and behind furniture. Good hotel, not great.

Hilton can do better

The hotel was undergoing some renovations, but not sure what they are doing as it didn’t affect our room. The room was dated with cheap furniture, worn faux leather headboards, mismatched decor, no coffee pot in the room and no complimentary coffee in the lobby (black coffee is $5). The manager did comp our coffee because we called that our toilet ran and although they promised to send maintenance, they never did. I have stayed in many Hilton hotels, but will avoid them in the future if they choose to nickel and dime you for everything. Staff was friendly and welcoming to all.

uUfortunately, the building was hit by lightning the night before we arrived knocking out the elevator service. This led to long delays getting an elevator. You would have to call down to the front desk and sometimes they wouldn’t answer. However, they advertised a pool which was decommissioned and a rooftop bar that was small and overcrowded. The bed was fine and room quiet for overall.

The worst hotel experience I have ever had. First, there was supposed to be a pool open and there was not. I would have chosen another hotel had I known. The room was grimy. There were very few electrical outlets (who does that in today's world?) so three people charging devices was a nightmare. The elevators went out and the wait to go up or down was as long as 25 minutes. I asked for our room to be cleaned. First, it wasn't done before 5 (problem because we were there for a wedding and needed to change). Came back later (after 7p), they had only made the king size bed, but left the bunk beds unmade. The trash from the room was in front of our door.  Finally, there was a big stain on the rug, but the most disturbing stains were on the lamp shade (looked like blood splatter) and on the bottom of the top bunk (some sort of "matter" that the previous person on the bottom bunk had left). DISGUSTING. The room was a family suite. It was expensive and the experience was AWFUL. I'll never be back or recommend. The only savings grace was that the folks at the front desk listened without defending upon check out.

A few issues but nice property

We spent one night at the Graduate in Richmond. The staff was warm and accommodating. Unfortunately the issues we faced were completely out of their control. We had really been looking forward to using the rooftop pool and had not received notice that it was closed. We were really disappointed and might have appreciated knowing ahead of time or perhaps the hotel having arranged pool privileges at another nearby property. The elevator being broken was another issue we had. The staff worked so hard to be available to all guests and they were so friendly. But it was definitely an inconvenience while we were there as we were staying on the seventh floor and several of our friends above that. The bed and entire room were extremely comfortable. The room showed its age a bit (chipped paint, rust in corners in bathroom) but was very clean.

A nice property and good location, but housekeeping was minimal to absent. I checked into my room and the bathroom was still dirty and had used towels. Trying to correct this was very difficult and delayed my plans to spend time in Richmond. The entire trip was nearly saved by a very polite young woman at the front desk, though, and most of the staff were polite and upbeat.

We just completed our stay and shorten and end our time there by one night. Still waiting to hear if Expedia is going to refund us for the last night. The property is currently undergoing renovation so there is construction noise in the building during the day up until around 6 PM. The rooms that are not being renovated, one of which we were staying in, smelled musty and moldy. The bathrooms are extremely small and not easy for two people to navigate if they are in there at the same time. There are very few electrical outlets in the room. The valet parking fee is excessive ($37 per night) and the valet company is not related to the hotel. Hotel parking is currently being used by construction materials and vehicles, so your car will be parked off property about three blocks away. My average wait to retrieve my car was 25 minutes. Most of the staff seemed friendly enough, but more than a few of them looked disheartened and unhappy to be there. And the last straw for us was that the elevators stopped operating and repairs to get them working again were still not complete when we left the hotel. We were fortunate to be on only the fourth floor, but some guests on higher floors must’ve been much more inconvenienced than we were. Maybe the hotel will be a better place to stay when renovations are complete, but I would ask before I make a reservation there again.

The first day was rocky. No help from Expedia or the $75 purchased protection insurance. The management was extremely helpful in rearranging our accommodations to meet our disabilities. Even made a purchase of stools for our convenience. I had difficulties getting into the high bed. The service staff members were awesome. Although they had microwaves, they were available upon request only. They are in the process of remodeling, so the noise and carpet were unsuitable. The manager was awesome, extremely nice and willing to make our stay pleasurable.

The hotel didn’t have hot/warm water in the morning, when I woke up and turned on the faucet and saw brown water coming out I was deeply disturbed. Additionally the cooling system was quite interesting since throughout the night I would wake up from being to hot and then wake up again from being too cold. There was also a loud sound during the day time as if there was construction going on but I couldn’t see it so I don’t know what was happening there. However, these circumstances were out of the staffs control so I don’t blame them but when we were checking out they did let us know if we contact them Expedia we could try getting a refund back. Also by the time we were checking out the hot water situation was resolved but we were already packed and ready to go so we couldn’t really have used it.
