The Front Desk Representative was friendly, efficient and prompt. However, the condition of the room was poor. The door was misaligned, which made it difficult to open and close, as well as impossible to set the security deadbolt. Also, there was no TV remote control in the room. When I inquired at the Front Desk they informed me that other customers had removed most of the remote controls and there were no more available. Since it did not appear that the hotel was sold out, I was a bit surprised that I was not offered a different room, or that they did not take a remote control from one of the other rooms and give it to me.
Moreover, in the morning the breakfast bar was non-existent. The juice machine was broken and the milk for cereal spilled all over the floor. I feel there should be some sort of compensation or partial refund because the breakfast was not as described in the hotel description.

The employee who checked me in extremely quick. The room itself was really nice, but it's age was showing. Marks/scratches on the wall near the door. The bathtub looked like it had to be resealed and was coming apart. I could look over these things, but having doors slamming all night long was a huge issue. It sounded like someone was trying to break in, that's how loud the doors slamming were.
Very poor no hairdryer no continental breakfast it took me about 20 minutes for someone to come to the front. The bathroom was coming apart. The hot water would not even work. I just feel like I want my money back. First of all as false information on the website the next-door had four dogs, and they bark all night long.
I have stayed at this Red Roof lots of times in the past while traveling to Richmond, but it’s been about a year since my last visit. After checking in and getting my room key we arrived to find the door to the room already open. There was a strong smell of marijuana in the room and several open drinks in the fridge. There seems to be a group of permanent residents at the hotel now that treat the public spaces like a playground, with dogs running loose and kids playing soccer in the parking lot, bouncing balls off of other guests cars. When me, my wife and my daughter arrived back to the room for the evening there was a man sleeping in the lobby in several chairs that he had pushed together. We shut ourselves in for the night, but he was still there in the morning when we went for breakfast. Combined with the overall state of the room, (no soap in the soap dispensers, only two towels for three people) I don’t think we will be returning to stay here, which is a shame because I remember after this site was renovated and it was a very nice place.
Front desk told me that my reservation was cancelled, even though i confirmed the reservation weeks beforehand. Hotel was at capacity, so manager only offered to call another place that was 20 miles away to get us a room there. I politely declined since I felt that this place may have canceled me due to my late arrival and gave my room to someone else, but i notified the hotel in advance of my late arrival and they told me it would be fine. I will not be staying at another one of these hotels due to this incident, and I hope expedia investigates what happened so nobody else has to scramble for a room like we had to.
