We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Astoria, spacious room and good breakfast. Some areas are a bit dated but all very clean. The area is full of restaurants and shops and it is a 5 mins walk to the beach. The hotel also offers tours that can be booked at check in. We would stay again if back in Rio.

As for the location, it is excellent, with numerous shops, restaurants, and the beach in close proximity. I was pleased with it. Regarding the hotel: Upon entering the room, we discovered that the sheets were soiled, stained with makeup, and had black marks. When we lodged a complaint, the staff provided a false explanation, stating that the maid was parking, which was a blatant untruth. Only one night agent demonstrated exceptional attentiveness. Upon checkout, he informed us that our bags would be stored, and we were welcome to visit the beach, return, and utilize the facilities bathroom However, upon our return, although our bags were stored as promised, we were unable to shower or change due to a reported lack of towels, which was unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. The baggage handler consulted with the front desk staff, who confirmed the unavailability of towels. This hotel proved to be the most disappointing establishment I have ever had the misfortune of booking.

I love front desk Felipe and everybody else who works there. This has hot & cold water. Good breakfast. Everything you need in walking distance. The beach is about 5-7 minutes walk. They also have tour activities to buy from. My room was a twin bed but comfortable for one person. It was quiet and perfect for my 6 days stay. I would go back if I eve have the chance to return to Brasil.

Liked: Good breakfast - plenty of choice. Pool and gymn. Breakfast staff. Dislike: Accused of taking confectionery from mini bar, which we didn’t. Insisted we pay extra, which led to delay in checking out while taxi was waiting and in panic to find money to pay for confectionery resulted in wife’s purse with a considerable amount of USD being dropped. In trying to contact hotel to see if anyone handed in the lost purse, once we realised in Iguasso, no response from several calls and messages.

My stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing for several reasons. First, the room was absurdly small, leaving barely enough space to move around. To make matters worse, the air conditioning remote didn’t work, preventing me from adjusting the swing settings. The room had an awful odour and desperately needed air circulation, but the air conditioning made the tiny space unbearably cold within minutes, even at a standard setting of 24–25 degrees. This left me with two unpleasant choices: endure the horrible smell all night or freeze. Unfortunately, I caught a cold due to the cold temperature. The noise from the lift was another major issue. I could hear it clearly from inside my room throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to get any sleep. The bathroom facilities were inadequate and unhygienic. They provided just one tiny bar of soap to be shared between the sink and shower—absolutely unacceptable. Additionally, there was no shampoo provided, which is a basic amenity in any hotel. The check-in process was shockingly slow. Despite having two staff members at the reception, it took nearly 20 minutes to process just two check-ins before it was my turn. The worst part of my experience was dealing with an incredibly rude and unprofessional staff member during check-in. This arrogant older man made the process unnecessarily complicated, even though I had completed all the steps online and prepaid for my stay. He insisted that I fill out all my details on a piece
