It was very hands off-- you go, retrieve your key from the lock box and let yourself in.
But it is a gorgeous old building built like a fancy plantation - castle, in the middle of a small coastal town in pristine Maine, with a pool and a fitness center. I didn't realize it at first, but my room had a hallway to another living room area, with a balcony to sit and watch the sunrise from. Wow!
Yeah, it's a great place.
Our room was much bigger than I expected. Plenty of room convenient for walking down to the pier.

The Trade Winds is an awesome location for visiting the Maine Lobster Festival, as it’s literally across the street. Be aware that being that close does have a disadvantage if you go to sleep early since you can hear the live entertainment from the main stage of the festival. We enjoyed it though since we could open the balcony door and enjoy the music from the comfort of our room. The staff were very kind and helpful. Being able to park our car and walk everywhere was another benefit.
I have always stayed here when visiting family. It’s changed for the worse. It was under construction. The hallway smelled like sewage. Our room was quite far away from elevators. It was a hike down three long hallways and steps. The window didn’t open. The shower almost scalded me then I froze by turning it down al little. It used to be free breakfast now you had to buy coffee and horrible muffins. Will be going elsewhere when I visit again.
Great stay, nice and easy. Very uncomplicated check in. Close to everything in town! This is our second time staying here and we'll definitely be back!
Streaming tv service wouldn’t work, kept buffering. I didn’t call office for help, so don’t know if the would have been able to fix it

Building code prohibits this in many places...
Friendly staff, unfortunate accommodations: I was placed in a room with no outdoor windows. This should be a closet, not a room! A shame to visit such a beautiful town and stay in such a depressing space, just for the sake of profit maximization.

A dated property with nice staff, great location
Lots of aging properties on the Eastern seaboard, so not a surprise as to the conditions here. Great location. A bit noisy as our room had two doors on main traffic routes. We were surprised when our front door came off its hinges on the 3rd day, so we had to be moved to a smaller room for our last 2 nights. Staff promised (twice) that the owner would reach out. It took a month, and messages we generated, to finally get an acknowledgement and a modest credit. The staff on-site were friendly and helpful. Would be great to power wash the outside decks for the summer. I'm sure they're trying their best! You'll get friendly staff and great location for a moderate cost; you won't get sparkly new accommodations. All good to know as you book here.

We liked the room itself. New vinyl floors and comfortable mattresses. Two areas of improvement would be 1) better WiFi. The tv is streaming only and the wifi is so weak the picture goes blurry often and it has to cycle.2) Before guests arrive, please turn AC on in room so it cools off. It was 80 in ours and took 4hrs to get down to 70.
The workers at this establishment went above and beyond. They really are kind. I love staying at the TradeWinds. The views are beautiful and the room was comfy. I would totally recommend.
Upon arrival, our room was very hot, but a call to the front desk had fans to our room in minutes to help circulate the air conditioning!
The stay was pleasant and comfortable. The kids loved the pool! Walking distance to various eateries and shopping. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
