To be honest, we were a little apprehensive when booking La Stanze. However all our reservations were put to rest as soon as we got there. Its about a 20 minute walk from Roma Termini station. Upon arrival, we were met by Elenora who showed us our room and got us settled. We were also provided with a map and vouchers for breakfast at a nearby cafe. There are plenty of traditional trattoria's nearby patronised by locals (always a good sign!). I can recommend Trattoria Da Mario, on Via Carlo Felice and Da Simonetta, on Via Pontremoli serving really great carbonara, amatricana, fried baccala, fiori di zucca, grilled seafood and of course pizzas. There is a nearby takeaway that serves Sicilian pizzas. If you fancy more fancy restaurants, there are plenty on Via Merulana and near the Coliseum area.
What one must note is that this 'hotel' is more like a guest house. The reception is only available when new guests check in. There is coffee and tea making facilities and a microwave oven. If you are looking for hotel type facilities like room service, a bar etc, then this place certainly not ideal.
Overall, we love La Stanze. Its quiet, even though our room faced the main road. Its suits 'younger' and perhaps more energetic travellers who do not mind lots of walking! (I'm 54 by the way, :))!!
