Our stay was excellent and the alpacas and one sheep were very cute and friendly. The room was clean, modern and comfortable as was the modern bathroom. I would recommend Hideaway of Rotorua.

Our short 2 night stay was perfect, the rooms are cosy and well appointed, although the kitchen sink is placed under a cupboard that protrudes and the tap is poorly designed. Was a bit disappointed that new building works all around, which was noisy at times. Also the outdoor patio area wasn't really usable as people next door were smoking, and we had to keep our door shut to keep out smell too.

We loved our stay at Hideaway. We stayed in the deluxe family room with spa bath, which was modern, clean and perfect stay for a family with young kids. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Just outside the sliding door was the playground and some friendly alpacas and a sheep. We didn't get much of a chance to try the playground due to the weather, but it looked great. We were given some food for the animals at check in and the kids absolutely loved being able to hand feed the animals every day. It is a short distance away from the town and the potential smells associated with Rotorua, although I would only stay here if you have a car. You do need to drive into town for shops and restaurants as there are no food options on site or in the immediate area. It is reasonably close to the road, but from our room we didn't really notice traffic noise. There was a laundry on site which was helpful. It would be great if the laundry hours were longer so that you didn't have to be at the hotel doing laundry during the day when you wanted to be out seeing things. There was building work while we were staying, however we didn't find it noisy or disruptive. We would 100% stay here again and definitely recommend it to anyone with kids.

Staff were very friendly & welcoming upon arrival. Great parking. Kids loved the park and alpacas outside, right in the centre of everything - bonus was being able to feed the animals too. Our room was #19 - Delux family room with spa. It was very clean & tidy - everyday our towels were replaced with fresh ones and our bins were always emptied. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay 😊

Terrible, dishonest, management

Management here are completely unreasonable and dishonest. After our first night here, which was fine, I approached the hotel manager for room service and, after ignoring my request, he asked us to leave in exchange for a refund when I became upset that he wasn't listening. I have two small children and was initially alarmed that he would even suggest us to leave over a simple request for our room to be serviced, which the lodge manual in the room specifically says is done daily. Then, he brings the room service lady over and, instead of doing a quick service, she blames my husband for not asking for the room to be serviced when she came into the room earlier and handed him towels (we assumed she'd come back later when we were gone). At this point, it was clear to me that they weren't going to service the room, which is upsetting, but not the end of the world albeit inconvenient and not in line with the service agreement in their room. However, I no longer felt safe staying there as they kept insisting we did something wrong, even though we didn't. So, I took him up on the offer to leave for our money back, which he obviously agreed to as it was his idea to bring with. However, when we put the refund request in, our refund was repeatedly refused by the hotel for a different reason each time.

Amazing place and location. Kids loved it - place so clean and beds super comfy. Animals and playground a hit and gave our kids much to do during our downtime. The location was close to all activities and amenities. Highly recommended.
