Room was not clean, trash from previous guest was still in the garbage can. My shower was also dirty, there was large booger on the shower wall and hair all over the place. I did not know my glass doors were facing a hallway either. This required me to keep my curtain closed at all times unless I wanted other folks to walk by and see me in my room. Other than this, I had a pretty good time, service was good and I enjoyed how close it was to the riverwalk.

We have stayed here before and we were celebrating our 52nd wedding anniversary so we were excited until we went in our tiny room that was supposed to have a private balcony on the river. It did have a balcony but was connected to 3 other rooms. I complained but to no avail. We won’t be staying there again when we visit San Antonio-very disappointing!

Our reservation was for 2 queen beds with a riverview. When we arrived we were told we had been "upgraded" to the Parlor Suite with one bedroom that had 2 beds. Unfortunately, they were double beds and we required queens. As we were only staying a brief overnight to attend a theater production, the parlor portion of our room was a waste. We had no use at all for a 2nd tv, sectional sofa or large dining room table. The only thing that was useful was the 2nd bathroom, however, there were no grab bars on the tub, no skid-proofing in the tub, and the tile throughout the room was exceedingly slippery when wet. Treacherous for anyone, but more so for seniors. I would not stay here again for that reason alone. As for the restaurant (Four Brothers), while the food was good, the service was slow even though our reservation was for 5:30 PM (giving us 1 1/2 hours before the show which was across the street) and there were few other customers. As the hostess showed us to our table, she said she would inform the servers that we were attending the show so they would be timely. Nevertheless, it was a full half hour before we were served our drinks and then the glasses of champagne we were served were tepid. A very expensive start to our meal. The Crackling Pork was delicious, as were the cornbread with pimiento cheese and the pommes puree. The buttermilk pie was offered at no charge as we were celebrating a birthday, and it was very tasty.

It’s an old Catholic boys school, a little creepy and dated. Staff was excellent, food was great but the food service at restaurant was very slow. We spent most of our time across the river at the Mokara hotel, our key cards worked there so i guess it’s a sister hotel with better atmosphere, dining and rooftop pool.

Beautiful hotel - super friendly and accommodating staff. Large and comfortable room. Great location on the Riverwalk. Only complaint - our room was on the very end of one side of the hotel and there was a large tree right in front of our balcony which blocked the view of the Riverwalk. Also, the view to the left was blocked by a street. The only view we had was to the right of our balcony. Very disappointing! If you go, try to make arrangements beforehand to get a room more in the center of the hotel for a much better view.
