Great Change from the Cookie Cutter Norm.

The hotel is in an older building and decorated with older, classic furniture. The hotel was clean and quite. I did not use the workout facility. Zac, one of the security men, was very helpful providing directions and local suggestions. The location is great for the conference hall, Gaslight area, and local museums. The only "bad" is the Horton charges a $24/ night resort fee that is not disclosed until shortly before check in.

Beautiful stay in a very cool authentic building

The hotel and room were wonderful. The location in Gaslamp quarter was very convenient to get to a ball game or the convention center. The only negative is there is no restaurant or breakfast facilities on the property. But they have a list of recommended breakfast locations nearby (lots).

Thin walls

I have never heard somebody from another room snoring while I tried to fall asleep. I am not a very light sleeper but the walls in this hotel are just paper thin and you got tons of noises from other rooms. That is not adequate for even a 2 star hotel...

Very Historical hotel with great homage to the originality of the property. We had a Garden view which was nice to be able to sit on the balcony. We did get VIP offers for drinks and restaurants but I do feel it closed early (10pm) so we weren’t able to use but not a big deal. Very helpful doormen, walkable to Petco park, and a close stop for the historical trolly. The room isn’t huge but understandable for area and history of hotel. We would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful Accomodation

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Horton Grand in San Diego. For us it reminded us of the French Quarter of New Orleans. The building is well maintained and spacious with lovely architectural features throughout the building. Rooms were spacious and even though they are set in the time period the building was built they offer a wonderful retreat from anyones time in the city. A short walk to the Baseball stadium, restaurants and easy parking. This is a quality family owned Hotel that offers wonderful accomodation.

It has an old fashioned feel. But that doesn’t mean everything has to be old. The handles for the shower were wobbly. There is a dresser like by the door but it’s locked and has no function. Maybe put a luggage cart instead? Or a bench for putting shoes on. The towels are rough to the touch.

We love staying there for a Padres game. It’s walking distance to the ball park and conveniently close to many different food and beverage options. We valet our vehicle and walk everywhere. Fun!!
