Conveniently located The Sofia Hotel was a great choice to stay while visiting San Diego. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Parking is available behind the hotel building, We paid 40.00 USD per day. No need to pay extra for vallet parking as the parking lot is a few steps away from main entrance. If you don't want to drive around, there is easy access to public transportation Public transportation and many dining options within walking distance. I will definitely stay here again.

Great potential but poor execution

Appearance and presentation did not match up to the photos on the website. Hotel is very tired and worn inside with an excess of brown throughout, seems very dated. Rooms are also extremely small by normal standards with minimal sound insulation between rooms. Having a sink in the bedroom not a separate bathroom was not great. Overall the expectations we had from the normal room price were not met, and I cannot recommend this hotel

We had a great time in downtown San Diego. I booked the incorrect dates and the hotel was very gracious about changing my nonrefundable room to the right dates. Our room was small but clean and pleasant. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall, a very good hotel. Clean with friendly staff. One frustration was having to ask a couple of times to get more shower gel. A pool and hot tub would make this a 5 star amenity spot.

Beautiful Hotel and conveniently placed downtown where most destinations are walkable or accessible to a trolley, bus, train, etc. I would rate 5 stars but downsized to four because of the noise and some amenities of the room. Some of the rooms, such as mine on the 3rd floor were poorly insulated and you can hear noise very loudly. In my case, I was awoken at 4am but what sounded like persistent knocking coming from above me but was perhaps several loads of bedding being washed in an uneven washer. Also to add, my phone was extremely dusty, a few of the outlets did not work and one of the light switches didn’t do anything at all. I recommend the location for its convenience to the sea and food but recommend a definite upgrade to some of the structure of its rooms and electrical circuits.
