Stayed here for a couple days while in San Fran. Overall, my experience was okay. The hotel is older and not updated. I was not aware that there wasn’t an elevator so carrying my suitcase 3 flights of stairs was unexpected. No AC in the rooms and even if you open the windows it doesn’t help. The walls are very thin and conversation from other rooms can be heard. Lots of noise at night making it hard to sleep. Other than that, for the price it was a decent stay.

I like the vintage property that was remodeled. Bathroom had modern fixtures. Marblelike floors and showers. Dispenser's of Shampoo/Conditioner and Body Wash. My sleeping area had a queensize bed with my very comfortable medium hard mattress and clean bedsheets and pillows. Flat screen tv worked well. A vintage classic touch with decorative sconces. Before i stayed in a room that had window blinds with nice moulding surrounding it. These brought back memories of my grandparents home back in the day.

The rooms are so loud, if you have a room that is facing the street you can hear everything. You get your moneys worth.

I would stay here again

We had an interior room. No noise from the roads, but it was tiny! There's just enough room to walk around the bed, and no place to put your stuff in the room or bathroom. Room was clean and shower was hot with good pressure. The interior hallways are run down but clean. Location was just great, I felt very safe in this neighborhood as a female with my teenage daughter and walking around by myself in the mornings. You can hear some noise from other guests but not bad at all considering the price and neighborood are worth it.

Ideal for the budget traveler: in a safe part of town with no frills. No elevator and the rooms are quite Spartan—fridge, microwave, TV, shower & toilet, but no chair or desk. Muni bus access to all parts of town and a 15 minute walk to the opera, symphony, Asian Art Museum, and City Hall. In a residential neighborhood with a couple of late night convenience stores. Staff and fellow guests are friendly gathered around the (free) coffee machine in the mornings.

Dark, dirty, terrible - avoid!

I never write bad reviews but this really was shocking. Truly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The room was tiny with only fluorescent lighting and incredibly dirty. The shower was full of hair, there was a blinding light from the hallway through the window making sleep impossible, there were no proper pillow (head went right through to the mattress) and the mattress has physical springs that dig into your back. The last time I woke up with a backache like this was from sleeping on a floor during a college party. I asked for help in covering up the window as the light was so strong even with the blinds closed and new pillows. The receptionist was kind and accommodating but ultimately, the problems with the room were unsolvable. Loud conversations in the surrounding rooms with paper thin walls made the morning an equal nightmare. I could understand paying $30 max for a room Iike this but due to minimal hotel availability this week in SF, I paid $212. So gross and exploitative.

It was relatively quiet, for being in the city. The reading lamp on the wall next to the bed was loose and flopped to one side when my wife tried to use it. Also, the clothes hanger fixture was coming off the wall on the end away from the corner of the room, so we only hung a couple things next to the corner wall. No trash can in the bathroom.

Great Value!

I'm not sure there's a better low-option budget in San Francisco. The hotel is clean and well-maintained. Just be aware there is no AC, and my room got pretty buggy despite mild temps. I'd definitely stay again, but maybe bring in a window fan. Location is unbeatable, staff is incredible.
