The location is convenient, the atmosphere is friendly, and the amenities are just what you need for a comfortable stay — but what truly made my visit exceptional was the staff, especially Nick. From the moment I arrived, Nick went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome and comfortable. He’s not just professional, but also genuinely kind, respectful, and always ready to help. Whether it was offering great local tips, helping with directions, or just checking in to make sure everything was okay, Nick made me feel more like a guest in someone’s home than just a traveler passing through. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated, thoughtful, and efficient. His warm energy and positive attitude truly made a difference in my stay. I had a pleasant stay at The European Hostel. The location is convenient—close to public transport and just a short walk from many popular attractions in San Francisco. The front desk staff, especially Nick, was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and attentive to guests' needs, creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The rooms were clean and the facilities were well-maintained. The common areas, including the kitchen and lounge, were great for relaxing or connecting with other travelers. Housekeeping staff did a good job keeping everything tidy and fresh. Overall, it's a great budget-friendly option for solo travelers or small groups looking for a centrally located hostel with a community vibe. I would definitely stay here again!

I didn’t know much about San Francisco when I booked this place, and I wasn’t aware that it is in an area called “the Tenderloin”, which is known to be one of the rougher areas. That being said, I had very little worry and no issues while I was there. This place was pretty much what I expected when I booked it; just a place for me to sleep. I booked a twin room to myself as I was over the age of 30 and it was all I needed. But know that the room is literally a twin bunk bud and that’s it. I would recommend a desk or a nightstand or something in there in the future. Would be nice, but I’m not complaining. My sheets were clean and I was comfortable, and that is all that matters. Two recommendations I would make, other than a nightstand or something in the room, is a better cleaning in the shared bathrooms. I can tell they were serviced morning and night, but it would be beneficial to clean out the inside of the showers. They were pretty disgusting and stayed pretty gross the whole time I was there. Lastly, I think it would also be beneficial to vacuum the steps and steam clean them. They smell pretty bad. Front desk employees were easy and friendly, and I greatly appreciate that. Kitchen had all I needed. Overall, again, all I needed an expected. But a few considerations for the future would potentially give them a higher score, at least in my mind.

The staff is very friendly, especially Nick, who always goes above and beyond to fulfill any requests we have. The bathrooms and common areas are clean and well-maintained. Nick consistently ensures everything is in order and that house rules are followed. While some guests can be very rude to him, he always handles the situation in a calm and professional manner. His dedication and respectful approach make a big difference in the overall experience.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at The European Hostel! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the friendly and professional staff who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The front desk team is knowledgeable, courteous, and genuinely cares about guests' comfort—Nikunj especially made the check-in smooth and gave great local tips! The hostel is clean, secure, and well-maintained. The common areas are vibrant and great for meeting travelers from around the world. I loved relaxing on the rooftop terrace with beautiful views of the city! What really stood out was the excellent service—whether I needed extra towels, help with my itinerary, or just a good conversation, the staff was always ready with a smile. The rooms are cozy and affordable, making it one of the best value stays in San Francisco.
