A nice, basic hotel, and very clean. But don't expect room service or breakfast. Fortunately, there are plenty of food and coffee shops within walking distance. However, I would caution against going out after 5 or 6 pm. While the hotel is in a somewhat decent area, there’s often a bit of an unsettling atmosphere, with people loitering on corners, and the frequent sound of police sirens. Despite those things, I would recommend this hotel, it is San Francisco downtown anyways.

The Found Hotel Carlton is a small boutique hotel that is in a lovely almost 100 year old building. The Staff were so lovely, especially Amelia who is a true Hospitality superstar, so very Friendly with a big smile and most importantly extremely professional and courteous. Amelia is an immense asset to Found Hotels. I slept well in a great bed. The windows opened slightly for fresh air. No coffee maker in the rooms but they offer a kettle if you wish or alternatively there is a coffee station in the lobby. The area felt safe but obviously don't venture into the Tenderloin district. If you are wanting a small historic hotel stay with lovely staff then Found Carlton is perfect.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to check in about 4.5 hrs early and after we checked out, we were able to leave our bags behind and still do a bit of sightseeing before having to leave for the airport; our bags were tagged, we got a ticket, and the bags were locked in a separate room used to store luggage. The room itself was comfortable. Noting that there is only one small elevator. Additionally, the area around the property is not the best (garbage and feces on sidewalks). Property is close to bus stops, which was helpful for getting around the city. Property also close to Chinatown and approx. 30 mins walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Many good local dining establishments also within 10 mins walking in multiple directions.

Interesting old building close to many areas of interest and excellent restaurants. Helpful, kind staff. Appreciated the expresso machine in the lobby - surprisingly good and saved us money in city where food is expensive. Yes, on the edge of the tenderloin district but easy to avoid. Would definitely return.

The Hotel interior was much nicer than expected, has a lovely lobby, and staff is always on site at the front desk able to help. If you are in a room with street facing windows it may get a little noisy from time to time, so earplugs for sleeping are not a bad idea if you are sensitive to sounds.

The establishment is rather old ( not modern) the staff was friendly and the place was clean! The TV had to be programmed by manager in order to view channels, which was a bit of an inconvenience!

Good value for price. You can hear other rooms, but it didn’t bother us. South of the property is rougher, but other areas around are fine. The rooms are cute and clean. Good location. Easy to walk places or rent Bay Wheels and bike.

The hotel is very nice itself and has free coffee and hot chocolate that I loved. The only problem was the parking so be mindful of bringing a car because you might just have to park it in a overnight garage which gets pricey. But overall the hotel and amendments were good !
