Great hotel, easy valet parking but very expensive unfortunately. The staff were so nice and helpful. Room was comfy and clean. No microwave which was disappointing and unfortunately the fridge didn’t really keep our food and drinks cold. Great location for access to cable cars.

A good hotel in a great location
When I go to San Francisco I always choose the Handlery. It's in a convenient location and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Our room was very small and a bit stuffy. There was a window but it could not be opened. There's no air conditioning. The room had some charm and was very clean. It would have been nice to have some vending machines for a quick snack and a cold drink. I would definitely go back. Maybe next time I'd see if I could get a room with a view.

We were very pleased with location and the hotel itself. The only negative was they did not have coffee available there. They did have discount coupons for the Mason Cafe but that was not on site. The breakfast there was great though. But if you like coffee when you get up in the morning, this is not the place. Overall it was a nice place.

We felt safe at first as there are doormen and key card requirements to access the property. We had a pool front room and since the pool is in the courtyard, we were on the bottom floor. The first morning of our stay, a woman tried repeatedly to get in our room from both the pool area and then in the hallway. We assumed it was a guest who was confused until we went out for breakfast and saw the same woman shouting in the street - clearly mentally ill and/or intoxicated and NOT a hotel guest. Later that evening, I went outside to the garage area to have a smoke. I was in my (nice) robe and pajamas that are in good repair but was eyeballed and kind of stalked by a hotel security guy until he told me I had to go out in the street to smoke. Instead of going out on the street where I was unprotected from anything, I put out my cigarette and, to his disbelief, used my room key to get back in. Nothing super clean, but nothing super dirty, tub was stained and shower kept cutting out. Close to cable car and bus, super nice office staff. Bearable for a 40 something couple only staying 2 nights, but would NOT have been ok (felt safe) if we had kids with us.

We had a lovely stay. The first room we checked into had problems (refrigerator and A/C didn't work) and we were quickly relocated into a new room with no quibble. Our room was large and lovely, with no problems.

Had an amazing stay! Staff was friendly. The queen room I booked was upgraded to a king. Hotel was nice & clean. There is no microwave in the room but who cares it’s walkable, so many diverse places to go too. Highly recommend staying here!!

Was able to get an early check in. Room was right next to the elevators, which were loud. Moreover, the bed was hard, and the pillows were way to soft, almost as if we didn’t have any. When checked out, we asked for directions to the parking garage to receive our car, counter girl made a snarky remark about people not knowing how to get to the garage. Sorry, parked my car and took Lyfts all weekend. Probably shouldn’t have workers like that in customer service. Furthermore, there was no breakfast or convenience store on the premises, and the vending machines were out of order. This place just seems a bit run down. I would never suggest this place to anyone. Not worth it.
