Our stay here was very pleasant overall, great staff and great rooms! Very clean and very comfortable! We had an issue with our black out curtain which was fixed while we went out to dinner ! The breakfast was pretty good a little pricey but luckily we had vouchers with our stay . The cafe never had any change either which was a minor inconvenience. The valet was super friendly and fast ! The location was pretty decent too , was able to walk to our Alcatraz tour and exploratorium tour . Tons of food nearby too ! Over all 4.5 / 5 stars ! Would definitely stay again next time we are in SF !!!

We love Kimpton. Always good service and well-maintained properties. The only negative this trip was a large wedding party that was so loud we had to call security 3 times. The group was moved to the lobby at 2:30 am but returned at 4:00 am to wake us a 3rd time. The hotel discounted our bill and I understand this was not their fault. I wish they had left security on the floor to monitor the loud rooms.

Perfect Stay

Long, solo weekend prior to a conference in town. The Alton was perfect! Great location to walk to many things, very clean and comfortable and safe location. San Fran gets a bad rap, other than driving through some rough streets to get to the hotel from the airport, I walked all over and it was not at all like the few streets we drove by. Much cleaner (typical level of cleanliness for a city of this size and some neighborhoods were excellent) than your led to believe from the news and extremely safe. I was out walking around from 9am to 7pm most nights and only took a car at night because it was cold. The Alton was a great location and the restaurant there is incredible. Would stay there again.

This was our first family trip to San Francisco and I couldn’t rave enough about this hotel. Great location, staff was phenomenal, rooms were clean, and overall hotel appeal was top tier. If you are ever planning on coming to San Francisco and want to stay close to fisherman wharfs, this is your place. The staff and valet service was so helpful and friendly. We absolutely loved it here. Thank you so much Kimpton Alton hotel. You guys are the BEST!

Impeccably clean, quiet, modern/ retro rooms featuring record albums and a record player. Friendly staff and added amenities of free morning coffee hour and evening cocktail hour daily made our stay in SF that much more special. Great location for visiting Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Cable Cars and many wonderful parks, neighborhoods and restaurants . Great restaurant at the property made for a lively atmosphere nightly as you entered the hotel. Highly recommend this hotel for a great value, beautiful room and memorable stay in San Francisco!
