Very Nice Motel near SFO

Surprisingly nice motel on El Camino. Lots of creative touches. South of SFO by about 10 minutes but very convenient if you need to work in both SF and Silicon Valley. Can see the classic Millbrae Theater from the window. Bonus for film enthusiasts. Good pillows...just sayin.

The Dylan has a total vibe going for it that other hotels simply miss. It's retro, MCM decor invites you to chill out and listen to some old records on the record player available in certain rooms or grab one of the many books to read that are scattered around the lobby while indulging in a relaxing drink during Happy Hour. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating and strive to ensure your stay is a pleasant one. Everything is updated, clean and well maintained with very comfortable beds, clean, fresh sheets and blankets, and plenty of soft fluffy pillows. It has become my go to spot for staying in San Francisco. There are a huge selection of restaurants nearby featuring a wide variety of cuisines within walking distance. Shopping opportunities are nearby as well. Close to the airport and conveniently close to the buses and BART, taxis and Ubers are also available, plus they offer a Park and Fly as well. Very affordable and great for people with disabilities. Highly recommended.

Pluses = location within close walking distance BART, CalTrain, and downtown Millbrae with that small town feel from the past—only crowded, bustling, vibrant. Liked the wine and coffee bars, and affordable snacks in the lobby. Appreciated the positive energy of Nina at check-in. Minuses = it’s a dark, funky motel, with cold breezeway and industrial noise once you leave the cheerful, bright, inviting lobby. Room is exactly what you would expect from an old motel and fits the reasonable price: bed TV end table lamp bathroom chair. Basically what you need if you are a dot.com commuter. Good value, but not a place to hang-out, unless you like board games in the lobby.

The stay began with me being given the keys to someone else’s room. I was startled, to say the least. I was then concerned for the rest of my stay that the same might happen to me.

Great place but pushy front desk staff

It was a great place to stay for the night, lovely outdoor lounge area, free coffee 24/7, happy hour specials on adult beverages, very clean and spacious room. However they didn’t even wait until I arrived to check in to charge my card which I froze prior due to suspicious charge activity. Upon calling the property, the front desk person state in a very pushy tone that they needed another card to be charged over the phone otherwise they could not guarantee a room. Then the next morning not even 5 minutes past noon (check out time) on my way out the door to load my car, I get a phone call from the front desk (different person) asking (again in a very pushy tone) if I was going to extend my stay or want a late checkout. I I responded by saying that I will do the late checkout and would be down in 15 minutes. Then once I was all loaded up and ready to at the front desk, they didn’t notice me at the counter for like 5 minutes due to chit chatting in their side office.
