Good property for price. Great location. Nice staff, although gone at 8:00 pm. Property could use some deferred maintenance help, minor things mostly (bathroom window top down ~1” wouldn’t stay up, A shower conditioner dispenser did not dispense).

We were definitely impressed with the upgrades to this location. The room was very clean and the shower had great water pressure. Only small complaints were no USB plugs, we forgot to bring the squares, and the beds were a little stiff. Other than that, we will definitely be staying here next time we visit. Especially since it's about a mile from the Funk Zone, our favorite neighborhood in SB.

Not bad but wouldn't stay again.
This place wasn't terrible but I probably wouldn't stay again. There was what looked like used towel on the floor of the bathroom when I got there. They had a glass bottle of water that was available but didn't close properly so was probable opened by the last person that stayed. I came for a business trip and they didn't have an iron in the room. I tried to go to the front desk in the morning but it was locked and no one came in until late morning. the bed and bathroom were fine. It's cheap and you get what you pay for.

The front desk staff were very helpful. We had something unexpected come up at home, and they were kind and supportive. They were kind to our dog. We stayed for 6 nights, in #5 which seemed to be one of the best rooms, so we were glad. The rooms and the lobby are very clean; the pool is heated to the perfect temperature!

Not for me...
I recently had the opportunity to stay at this hotel and wanted to share my experience. While I appreciate the efforts that the team puts into maintaining the property, I encountered several issues that need attention. The insulation in the rooms seemed inadequate, as I could hear noises from adjacent rooms and the hallway quite clearly, making it difficult to relax and enjoy a peaceful stay. Additionally, the dispensers for soap in the shower were not functioning properly, which was quite inconvenient. Another significant issue was the presence of spiders in the room. Although occasional pests can be challenging to control, this caused me considerable discomfort. I strongly recommend investing in regular pest control services to address this problem. Due to these issues, I did not feel comfortable spending the night at the hotel and ultimately decided to drive back home, which was a 3 1/2 hour journey. I hope the management will take this feedback constructively and make the necessary improvements to enhance the experience for future guests.

Average hotel with less than average service
Upon arrival, we checked in only to find we were given the incorrect room type. I went back to the front desk and this was met with an excuse that another employee “must have given it away”, which was then followed by 20 minutes of staring at a computer screen and occasionally clicking away. This was followed by 10 minutes of talking to another employee, then another 10 minutes on the phone. I told him that if they did not have our room (a dbl queen) then he could just provide us with 2 rooms with a single bed each. He followed that with “well, we would have to charge you the difference”! My response was that I had properly booked the room and the error was solely that of the hotel. Eventually we were given the room we were booked. The bummer was that the sunset occurred while waiting for the host to get his act together. Not sure what the $38/day “resort fee” covered…the only thing besides a small parking area was a mildly dirty pool with no hot tub. We will be skipping this property the next time we visit Santa Barbara.

It’s overrate, definitely not a four star hotel. The service is poor, we waited for long time when check in, and can’t find anyone when check out. cleanliness is terrible. There are mildew everywhere in bathroom. There is a busy street next to the hotel, but the window didn’t block any noise, so you can imagine wake up in a noisy room.

First, I was greeted by a very tired man at the front desk who looked and acted as if he didn’t want to be working. We didn’t have enough towels, and the towels we did have in the bathroom had stains. The room needed a thorough cleaning. We had a room with two beds, and one of them was extremely noisy—every time you turned, it made loud, squeaky sounds. After midnight, the room above us had a party that went on until 3 a.m., making it very loud. I barely got any sleep. I called the 24-hour manager, but no one answered, so I left a message about the noise.

Close to the beach. Parking is one car per room and the spaces are super tight and small parking on the street is very limited. The rooms are clean, but the bed mattress are worn out and the spring pop web you move. The bath towels for the most per where ok . But a few had holes! We rented a room with kitchen but there was NO coffee pot. Coffee and tea are available in the office at 8 am( we had to go buy a coffee pot). There are no closets, hangers , or an iron in the room. The safe was out of order. The resort fee is a joke! The only thing that is offered is the pool and that is locked at 8 pm . No spa no bikes to use and no pool towels are available, just a few pool toys! They offer nothing unique! It’s is just a very basic room and not worth the price !

The electricity is completely out all around us. No hot water, no A/C until. No elevator, everything is pitch black. The staff did hand out flash light which was nice but to pay over $200 bucks a night here we shouldn’t have this issue.

Great location near the beach. Hotel is typical courtyard/pool hotels where all rooms look into central pool and has foot traffic on your only window. Therefore, no privacy unless blackouts are on and then room is dark.

False Advertising. Blue Sands Inn is not a 4-star hotel. Blue Sands Inn is a 2.5-star motel. I wouldn't have booked my reservation if the listing didn't contain false advertising. False advertising is illegal. Shame in the hotel owner. Shame on Expedia. I don't believe the positive reviews are real. They appear to be purchased reviews.
