Cozy historical hotel
Excellent services all around from the momemt we drove into the valet lot until our check out. All rooms are newly renovated and lobby is still being worked on. Looking forward to seeimg their transformation next time. Will definitely return.

Great location, lovely place
A lovely hotel really well located. The only issue I had was with noise from construction, but we were warned. The room was tastefully renovated, the amenities were lovely (pour over coffee setup in the room). Staff were friendly.

Pros: recently renovated, beautiful updated rooms, super dog friendly (even offered dog beds), great location right on State St (quick walk to beach or funk zone). Cons: the hotel is located next door to a few bars, the bass from the DJ was SO loud at night. I would highly recommend bringing ear plugs (the front desk didn’t have any). Also the air conditioning was acting up so in the mornings while we were getting ready the room temp was 74 and muggy. Lastly, room service is only provided upon request, which we didn’t realize until we came back at dinner time to a dirty room and inquired. Overall nice hotel, would have enjoyed more with ear plugs and functional AC.

A nice getaway from LA.
Really enjoyed the staff, from valet Cruz and the front counter, each person was helpful and personable. The room was very fresh, great price, however it never reached 72 degrees, which was a bit of a downer. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was efficient and very clean. We were close to everything we wanted to see or dine on this Thanksgiving getaway. We will be back.

When we arrived at 4pm we were told our rooms weren’t ready and we were going to be moved around in order to find a room ready for us. I found it weird at regular check in time they acted surprised we were checking in for the night? We got our keys and when we opened our room door there was already luggage in our room. We called the front desk and spoke with Alex. He told us it was a mix up and somebody would be right up to figure out the situation. We waited over 30 minutes and had to call back 3 times before somebody came up. All of the staff just didn’t seem organized or prepared to hosts guests. It is a beautiful hotel, very clean and great location on state street. I just don’t know that we will be back after how we felt everything was handled.

This has always been one of my favorite hotels in the area. It’s old but extremely well maintained. The historic nature was a huge part of the draw for me when I stayed here the first time years ago. Now they are remodeling and it’s only gotten better. The room refresh is fantastic and feels very modern for amenities while maintaining the historic charm of the building. I can’t wait to see the finished lobby on my next stay. The location is perfect for enjoying SB’s nightlife

Perfect!
Renovated rooms are very nice! This is an older property that is finishing 1st floor renovation, but that didn't impact our stay at all. Location is perfect for walking to the best of State Street.

$30 a night for Valet is absolutely ridiculous, that is something i was not expecting..... also the hotel smelled like fresh paint, rooms were tiny - before a guest books a room they should be informed of all this.

This hotel is in a very convenient location on State Street, surrounded by many restaurants, bars, and stores. It's a half-mile walk to the beach and Stearns Wharf. The immediate area seems geared towards the collegiate crowd. The hotel was undergoing renovation so the temporary lobby was small. Staff was very friendly.
