We were disappointed with the accommodations, perhaps it was the room we were given. It was a New Year’s Eve /New Year’s Day stay. We realize it was an older place, but we didn’t expect everything inside the room to be of a certain age. Champagne bucket with glasses, but no champagne offered. When you first walked in, it smelled damp and there was an air purifier in the living room. Needless to say it wasn’t a good first impression and we will not be returning in the future. On our two day get away to Santa Barbara, we expected more of an experience from Lavender Inn by the Sea.

This was my second stay at the Lavender Inn by the Sea. I even had the same room by request. As a woman travelling on my own, I feel safe and comfortable here. It is quiet at night and close to the Amtrak Station and bus routes. I was sorry to find the bikes had been replaced with high-handlebar cycles that proved difficult for me. Other than that, all went smoothly and I would be happy to stay here again.

The free wine and cheese at happy hour was so convenient since we'd stop in before or after an outing to the beach, nearby State Street, or the Funk Zone. Staff were friendly and helpful. Maintenance staff were hard at work keeping the place organized and clean. Of all the places I have stayed at Santa Barbara, I think this was my favorite so far, especially for the competitive price.

This was a very nice and clean place. Bed was comfortable. Very friendly staff and great with free bike rentals. The location is very good and close to the beach and the old town was 10 min by bike. The breakfast was simple. Good coffee machine in the room and coffee and tea available at the reception as well. I recommend this place.

There was a homeless man camping in the parking lot and shouting obscenities until 2 am. The facilities were fine, but I would not come back here because it did not feel safe for families. The staff meed to be more proactive about these issues.

Great little find
This is a very nice hotel. The staff is kind and welcoming. Their continental breakfast had a wonderful variety. The serve wine and cheese and crackers in the afternoon so we sat out front and relaxed as we watched the sun go down. You can walk down to the beach from the hotel. Highly recommend!
