The room was basic but clean. The highlight is the bar! I would go to the hotel just for the bar if I wasn't staying here. The location was good, you had to drive to most things but it would take less than 10 minutes. Parking was easy. One thing I didn't love is that you have to request house keeping which kind of makes you feel like a burden. The phone in our room didn't work so I couldn't contact the front desk that way, and when I called from my cell phone it took 4 calls to final get a person on the phone and I called around 9-10am. I forgot to do it on one of the days as we were out all day, so it was a bummer when we came back a realized that we forgot. Maybe they can have a sign you put on the door for housekeeping to check rather than having to call them or go to the front desk.

I’ve had multiple stays over the years at El Rey, am never disappointed. It has the feel of a great old motor court motel with a splash of great youthful energy in the hip lounge. Rooms are basic yet well appointed, clean and furnished with comfy beds. Always fun.

My husband and I stayed here for his 40th birthday, and since we didn’t know much about Santa Fe, we booked this hotel because it looked cute and had great reviews. I’m so glad we did! The room was clean, the location was perfect, and it was easy to walk to restaurants and coffee shops. Shopping was also just about an 8-minute drive away, which was super convenient. I absolutely loved the vibe of the hotel. The lobby was my favorite spot — cozy, welcoming, and a great place to hang out, have a drink, and play a game. It really made the stay feel relaxed and fun. The only downside was the check-in experience. The staff handed us our key and pointed us to the room, but there wasn’t much information shared. It would have been helpful to know ahead of time that housekeeping doesn’t service the rooms during your stay. Since we ate at the on-site food truck a few times, our trash piled up pretty quickly. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back — just with a little more info upfront next time!

The room had windows without covers and big lights right outside. Was the brightest room I’ve ever tried to sleep in! Staff was really nice. Bed was comfortable. Property was cute and interesting, especially the greenhouse. The breakfast was not included as advertised: they offered a food truck instead, and you had to pay. They also charge a $20/day “amenity fee” that’s not included in reservation.
The bar area is really cool, and worth hanging around.

The rooms are very old and normal, and the decor in the room is not that good or special, view from patio is also very normal. Service is good. The common area is pretty good tho, and the vibe is nice. It’s actually a motel with Mexican decors, just okay to experience but not good to live there for long. And they will charge extra for amenity stuff for about 50 bucks each room.
