In reading the reviews prior to my stay, it was interesting to witness the front desk staff in the same state that many reviewers had mentioned. While he was diligently working, he did look a bit overwhelmed. I also believe that, in the midst of handling a small line of patrons, he was training a new employee—the one who took care of me. Overall, my stay was decent.
I'm not sure what it was, but I noticed that I had been bitten quite a bit on the day of my departure. I did visit Tybee Island, but I don't recall encountering any bugs there, and to be honest, the linens appeared clean—just noting my experience.
My biggest gripe is that the signage needs to be updated. It took me multiple tries to find the entrance. It may have been the 18-wheeler parked near the actual entrance, combined with the blocked-off entry on the left (where the renovated hotel is being worked on), which made it appear as though it was a total dead end. That was stressful after having been on the road for quite some time.
Considering that things were booked up and extremely expensive, this was a decent stay. The staff was very pleasant and flexible with checkout.
