Pool and outside seating a godsend

Had a relaxing stay, fabulous breakfast even though it was extremely busy at the hotel on the Sunday. Family run hotel with mum, dad and daughters working extremely hard as it was a hot weekend so they were very busy. Swimming pool area and outside bar area was a godsend and although hotel full you could always find a lounger or chair to put your feet up on.

The downstairs bar and breakfast room area had money spent on it and was nice, however the bedroom was very dated and dirty, no bedside cupboard on one side- was used to put tv on it, was clearly once on the wall. Wash Sink in the bedroom-next to drinks facility! no sink in bathroom- shower tray from the 80’s and the grout on the floor was filthy. Thick dust on furniture, wallpaper bubbles everywhere, ripped and chipped paintwork, decor awfully dark and dingy, carpet dirty, cupboard under sink- thick with dust. Pool looked dirty, yellow around the edges, so didn’t go in it. Told spa could be used but had to give an hours notice to use it, so didn’t bother. Had to book time slot for breakfast - not very holiday friendly! Staff at breakfast was not customer friendly,- I asked if I could change table at breakfast due to the lights hanging over the table and being in my face, she said the table I was about to sit on was reserved ( no sign to say this) and no one used it - clearly wanted the control rather than helping paying customer. Told me where I was “allowed” to sit, dispite other customers freely walking in and sitting where they chose. Breakfast itself was nice. Wouldn’t stay again. Parking was difficult - had to find a space on the road and climb across works being completed holding onto rusty rails to the building to get into the building. £125 for one night- double room- very over priced for the disgusting room - very very disappointed. Couldn’t wait to leave.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at the “Q” Perfect venue near the beach and a very short walk into Shanklin town. Rooms were nice and the pool and spa terrace was really nice. The couple who run the “Q” are very attentive and helpful. One small downside is the parking is not as straightforward as you would like, but it did not detract from having a great stay.

Comfortable hotel with friendly staff in a good position in Shanklin with everything walkable in a short period. Staff were friendly and the cooked breakfast was enjoyed very much. Had a nightcap in the bar one evening and chatted to the lovely Laura who looked after us. Small irritation was shower was very under powered (think hot mist) room 23 but other than that all good and will return.

The hotel was clean and tidy, just lacked parking and somewhere to sit when in your room. The room was occupied by a very largd TV but would have preferred somewhere to sit. There were also times that hotel staff presumed people knew how things worked, for example getting into ghd hotel after it had been locked and how breakfast works in the morning.

Owners have done a beautiful work on renovating the place, chick style with lovely furniture in the lobby, dining area, corridors and the garden, loved it. Premises have got a small bar/lounge service with a good range of non-alcoholic proper drinks (pop-in even if you are staying in the surrounding places). Friendly staff. I was excited about the Sauna (being a Finn), and first a bit disappointed as it was a infrared Sauna - but it turned to be a positive experience, despite missing a stove to splash water on ;). I enjoyed the quietness and the seafront is just a short walk away. Breakfast: traditional, served to the table, small buffet with fresh veggies, juices and serials quite simple but fills your belly. Our room was small (but hey, we only slept there), it did not have air conditioner, so that was a bit of a minus but we survived with the table fan. Give it a go, enjoy your stay ☀️

Friendliness of team, well managed and nothing too much trouble. We paid for the upgraded room and it was very comfortable, quiet and a sea view, well worth it. Sometimes hot water in the shower was an issue but had a bath instead. Dining room and bar area very modern and a lovely place to eat breakfast and sit and chat.
